Latex mattresses have become increasingly popular in recent years thanks to latex’s durability, supportiveness, and (in many cases) eco-friendliness. The WinkBeds EcoCloud is a hybrid mattress that layers Talalay latex over pocketed coils. As its name suggests, it’s also kind to the earth.

WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Video Review
WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Overview
I’ve tried many mattresses from WinkBeds over the years, including the WinkBed, the WinkBeds GravityLux, and the WinkBeds Plus. The brand produces its hand-made mattress in Wisconsin.
The WinkBeds EcoCloud is the brand’s take on an eco-friendly mattress. It’s made with 100% natural, OEKO-Tex® 100-certified Talalay latex, which means it’s sustainably sourced and hypoallergenic. It also features a unique construction with zoning in the latex and coil layers. And the latex makes this a breathable, durable and supportive bed.
Pros of the WinkBeds EcoCloud
- It’s a great match for hot sleepers, thanks to the breathable coils and cooling latex foam.
- It offers a nice balance of comfort and support for combination sleepers.
- It’s made with eco-friendly materials.
- Because latex is particularly durable, the WinkBeds EcoCloud mattress should last at least a decade.
Cons of the WinkBeds EcoCloud
- People who want a very soft or very firm mattress won’t want to get this bed. The WinkBed EcoCloud mattress has a classic medium-firm feel.
- Most stomach sleepers won’t get enough hip support on this mattress, and they could develop lower back pain.
- It lacks a slow-moving feel. If that’s what you’re looking for, you may want to opt for a memory foam mattress.
- Because it’s made with high-quality materials, it comes at a higher price point. Take a look at our list of the best cheap mattresses for some less expensive options.

WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Firmness And Feel
To begin understanding whether a mattress might suit your needs, take a look at its firmness and feel. These factors tell you a lot about whether the mattress will be a good match for your sleep position(s) and other preferences. So, let’s take a look at the WinkBed EcoCloud’s firmness and feel.
How Firm Is The WinkBeds EcoCloud?
I ranked the WinkBeds EcoCloud around 6.5/10 on the firmness scale, which is also the industry standard for medium-firm mattresses. The top layers feature soft wool and responsive latex foam. The firmer support layer balances out that softness and creates a medium-firm feel.
Note that firmness is a bit subjective, and your body weight and preferences could mean that you find this bed to be a bit softer or firmer than my assessment. For instance, heavyweight sleepers may think this bed feels a bit firmer.
Sleeping On The WinkBeds EcoCloud
I felt great whenever I slept on my back. The latex and coils offered plenty of spinal support, while the wool and latex gently contoured my body. My hips sank into the mattress just a touch, which gave me some nice pressure relief.
I felt decent while side sleeping. The wool on top of the bed offered some pressure relief right off the bat. I did feel a bit of pressure on my shoulder and hip, but it wasn’t extreme. Folks who only spend part of the night in this position should feel okay.
In my experience, the WinkBeds EcoCloud is not quite supportive enough for stomach sleeping. My hips sank a bit too far into the mattress, which pulled my spine out of alignment. Folks who spend all night on their stomach should consider a dedicated mattress for stomach sleepers.
What Does The WinkBeds EcoCloud Feel Like?
Given that the WinkBeds EcoCloud contains both latex and coils, it’s probably not surprising that it has a bouncy feel. The mattress is very responsive, and it’s easy to move around and switch positions.
Sleeper Weight | Back Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Lightweight (Under 130 lb) | Excellent | Good | Good |
Average (130 – 230 lb) | Excellent | Good | Bad |
Heavyweight (Over 230 lb) | Excellent | Fair | Bad |
Is the WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Good For Lightweight People (Under 130 lb)?
- Lightweight back sleepers should enjoy a mixture of spinal support and pressure relief on this mattress.
- Lightweight side sleepers will probably feel comfortable on this bed, as they’re unlikely to press through the softer comfort layers and into the firmer support layers.
- Lightweight stomach sleepers might find enough spinal support on this mattress, but most people in this category will probably want to look for a more supportive bed.
Is the WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Good For Average Weight People (130 – 230 lb)?
- Average-weight back sleepers should enjoy plenty of spinal support combined with a touch of pressure relief.
- Average weight side sleepers could experience a bit of pressure around the shoulder and hip, but nothing extreme. If you need more pressure relief, consider one of the best mattresses for side sleepers.
- Average-weight stomach sleepers will probably want to look for a more supportive mattress.
Is the WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Good For Heavyweight People (Over 230 lb)?
- Heavyweight back sleepers should experience a pleasant balance of spinal support and pressure relief on the WinkBeds EcoCloud.
- Heavyweight side sleepers will probably feel some pressure in this position because they’re likely to press through the softer layers into the firmer support layers underneath.
- Even though the mattress might feel a bit firmer to heavyweight side sleepers, it’s still too soft for heavyweight stomach sleepers, who will probably find that their hips bow too far into the mattress.
WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Construction
Firmness and feel tell you a lot about a mattress, but they don’t represent the full story. It’s also important to know how a bed is constructed (and how that construction relates to performance and feel). So let’s peel back the cover on the WinkBeds EcoCloud and take a look at each of its layers.
Cover
The WinkBeds EcoCloud features an organic cotton cover that’s soft to the touch.
Comfort Layers
Right below the cover, there’s a layer of soft New Zealand wool that lends some plushness and pressure relief to the top of the bed. This material is also naturally breathable. Underneath the wool, there’s 4” of zoned Talalay latex foam, which is bouncy, responsive, and breathable.
Support Layers
The primary support layer on the WinkBeds EcoCloud is made from zoned pocketed coils, which are highly supportive, breathable, and durable. The zoning is meant to make this bed more supportive where spinal support is needed most (near the center of the mattress) and softer near the head and foot (for extra pressure relief). The mattress also contains an “ExtraEdge Anti-Sag Support” system, meaning the coils are firmer toward the edge of the mattress.
Mattress Height
The WinkBeds EcoCloud is 13” tall.

WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Performance
If you’ve read this far, you know a lot about the WinkBeds EcoCloud. But there are still several important factors to consider. We ran this mattress through a barrage of tests with regard to temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support, and more. Let’s see how it performed.
Sleeping Hot Or Cold
The WinkBeds EcoCloud is a very breathable mattress. The coils create a lot of room for airflow through the center of the bed, and latex and wool are naturally breathable. You shouldn’t sleep hot on this mattress.
Motion Transfer
As a general rule, latex doesn’t handle motion transfer very well, because it’s bouncy and responsive. This holds true for the EcoCloud. It doesn’t do a great job of minimizing disturbances across the surface of the mattress, so it’s possible that partners could feel each others’ movements during the night. Keep this in mind if you’re looking for a mattress for couples.
Edge Support
The WinkBeds EcoCloud features excellent edge support thanks to its supportive latex and coils. I felt secure while sitting and lying down near the edges of this mattress.
Durability
The WinkBeds EcoCloud is made with durable materials, including latex and coils. This should be a long-lasting mattress that won’t sag and a good long-term investment. In fact, the brand claims the mattress will sag less than 2% over the course of 20 years.
Off-Gassing
Because the EcoCloud mattress is made with natural and OEKO-Tex® 100 certified materials, it didn’t produce an unpleasant off-gassing smell.
Noise
At the time of my review, I didn’t observe any notable noise from this bed. It’s possible the coils might start to squeak over the long term.
Sex
The best mattress for sex allows partners to easily change positions. The WinkBeds EcoCloud should be a great match because it’s bouncy and responsive. Partners won’t need to worry about feeling stuck in this bed.
Company Policies
Here’s a quick look at the policies you can expect to encounter should you choose to purchase the EcoCloud mattress.
Warranty Info
The WinkBeds EcoCloud comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty.
Sleep Trial
The EcoCloud comes with a 120-night sleep trial.
Return Policy
The WinkBeds brand offers free shipping and returns. If the mattress isn’t working for you, the company will arrange to pick up your mattress.
Common WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Complaints
One of the most common complaints about the WinkBeds EcoCloud is that it doesn’t do a great job of minimizing motion transfer. This means sleepers could be easily disturbed by a partner’s or pet’s movements during the night. As I noted above, this makes sense when you consider that this mattress is highly bouncy and responsive.
How Does The WinkBeds EcoCloud Compare To Other Mattresses?
When you’re hunting for a new mattress, it’s smart to do some comparison shopping so you can ensure that you’re making the best choice for your needs. To make things easier, I’ve put together some comparisons right here. I’ll pit the WinkBeds EcoCloud against two of its competitors: the Avocado Green mattress and the Zenhaven mattress. Let’s see how they stack up.

Both the EcoCloud and the Avocado are hybrid latex mattresses, and they have very similar constructions. The EcoCloud layers organic cotton over sustainably-sourced wool, zoned Talalay latex, and supportive coils. Meanwhile, the Avocado also boasts an eco-friendly construction that features an organic cotton cover, wool, natural latex comfort layers, and pocketed coils. The biggest difference is that the EcoCloud features zoning, while the Avocado does not.
These beds are also quite similar when it comes to firmness. I ranked both of these beds a 6.5/10, or average firmness. The EcoCloud and the Avocado also have similar feels. They’re both very bouncy and responsive mattresses with a touch of softness on top.
These beds differ a bit when it comes to price. A Queen-size EcoCloud starts at $1999.00 for full price, while the same size Avocado starts at $1999.00.

WinkBeds EcoCloud MattressFirmness

The EcoCloud and the Zenhaven are simultaneously very similar and a bit different in their constructions. The EcoCloud layers wool and latex over coils, while the Zenhaven layers wool and latex over more latex. The support layer is one difference here (coils versus latex), and so is the zoning on the EcoCloud. Also, the Zenhaven is a flippable mattress while the EcoCloud is not.
These beds are fairly similar in terms of firmness. I ranked the EcoCloud a 6.5/10, which is the industry standard for medium-firm. I ranked the Gentle Firm side of the Zenhaven a 7/10 (a touch firmer than average), and I ranked its Luxury Plush side a 6.5/10.
These beds differ when it comes to feel. The EcoCloud has a very bouncy, responsive, and supportive hybrid feel, while the Zenhaven has a bouncy foam feel.
One of the biggest differences between these beds is the price. The EcoCloud starts at $1999.00 for a Queen, while the same size Zenhaven starts at $3295.00.
