When you’re hunting for a new mattress, firmness and feel are two of the most important factors to consider. These elements majorly impact whether a mattress is well-suited to your preferred sleep position(s) and other sleep preferences. So let’s kick things off with a look at the firmness and feel on the Awara mattress!
How Firm Is The Awara Mattress?
We ranked the Awara mattress around a 7.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for average firmness is 6.5/10, so this suggests the Awara is notably firmer than average. This is actually one of the firmest latex hybrids that we’ve ever tested.
Note that firmness is a bit of a subjective measurement. Lightweight people might find that the Awara feels even firmer than we did, because they may not press into the top layer of latex enough to obtain pressure relief.
Sleeping On The Awara Mattress
The Awara provided us with plenty of support while back sleeping. We felt both the coils and latex holding us up and keeping our hips elevated and aligned with the spine. This mattress should be a decent option for back sleepers, especially those who enjoy a firm feel.
We experienced notable pressure while side sleeping on the Awara. Because the Awara is a firm mattress, our hip and shoulder felt a bit jammed up in this position. Folks who sleep on their side will almost certainly find that this mattress feels too firm, and they will want to seek out a mattress for side sleepers.
In our experience, the Awara mattress is a great match for stomach sleeping. Our hips felt well supported and aligned with our spine. In fact, it is one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers we have ever tried.
What Does The Awara Mattress Feel Like?
As is common among latex hybrids, the Awara mattress has a bouncy, responsive feel. The latex responds quickly to pressure, so it is very easy to move around and switch positions on this mattress. Sleepers will feel like they’re sleeping on top of the mattress instead of sinking into it.
Average-Weight Sleepers: 130lbs–230lbs
Average-weight back sleepers who enjoy a firmer feel will find plenty of support on the Awara mattress. Because this is a firm mattress, average-weight side sleepers will not find adequate pressure relief in this position. On the other hand, average-weight stomach sleepers should feel very well supported.
Heavyweight Sleepers: Over 230lbs
The Awara should provide heavyweight back sleepers with plenty of spinal support, although it doesn’t offer much pressure relief in this position. Heavyweight side sleepers will almost certainly find that the mattress feels too firm in this position, and they’re likely to experience pressure around the shoulder and hip. Lightweight Sleepers: Under 130lbs
Lightweight back sleepers will obtain plenty of spinal support but perhaps not enough pressure relief on the Awara.
