Whenever you’re mattress hunting, firmness and feel are critical factors to keep in mind. That’s because they’re big indicators of whether a mattress will suit your sleep style. So let’s take a close look at the Nectar Premier’s firmness and feel!
How Firm Is the Nectar Premier?
We ranked the Nectar Premier mattress around 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for average firmness is 6.5/10, so this suggests the Nectar Premier is just a bit softer than medium-firm. It features a whopping six inches of soft comfort layers, which creates a (you guessed it!) softer feel overall.
That said, firmness is a bit subjective. Your body weight and personal preferences might mean that you rank this mattress a touch firmer or softer than we did.
Sleeping On the Nectar Premier Mattress
So, how do we feel in different sleeping positions? Well, first off, we felt fantastic while back sleeping on the Nectar Premier. We enjoyed plenty of support as well as some pleasant pressure relief. This helped to keep us in good neutral spinal alignment.
We also felt great while side sleeping on this mattress. We didn’t experience notable pressure around the shoulder and hip, which are common pressure points for side sleepers.
We didn’t feel as great when we flipped to our stomach. Because this mattress is on the softer side, it’s not supportive enough to keep the hips elevated and aligned with the spine in this position. Most people will want to take a look at a mattress for stomach sleepers.
What Does the Nectar Premier Feel Like?
The Nectar Premier has a balanced foam feel. It incorporates some memory foam, which offers a bit of body contouring. At the same time, the mattress has a good amount of bounce. Sleepers shouldn’t feel stuck in this bed.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
Average-weight back sleepers should enjoy a balance of comfort and support on the Nectar Premier. They should feel their hips sink in the right amount as the mattress still hold up their body.
Average-weight side sleepers should feel great and will enjoy the softness and “give” of this bed’s top layers. They should sink into the top comfort layers without bottoming out. They should feel almost no pressure on their shoulders and hips.
Average-weight stomach sleepers will almost certainly find that their hips bow too far into the mattress, tugging the spine out of alignment. Folks in this category will want to look for a more supportive mattress.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
Back sleepers who weigh less than 275 pounds should feel like the Nectar Premier is a good fit, while folks who weigh more than that might need an innerspring mattress or a mattress made for heavy people.
Similarly, side sleepers who weigh less than 275 pounds should enjoy adequate pressure relief, while folks who weigh more than that might need to look elsewhere.
This mattress is not supportive enough for heavyweight stomach sleepers. They will want to look at a firm mattress or a mattress made with heavier people in mind.
Heavyweight sleepers should also consider the Nectar Adjustable Base, one of the most supportive options out there.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
Across the board, lightweight sleepers should find the Nectar Premier to be a good match. Lightweight back sleepers, side sleepers, and stomach sleepers should all enjoy pleasant levels of support and pressure relief.

Once you know what the surface of a bed feels like, it’s helpful to look beneath the cover. We’ll reveal each layer of the Nectar Premier’s construction and share how this bed’s materials affect its performance and feel.
Cover
The Nectar Premier’s cover is made with cooling, breathable fabric that helps the surface of the mattress dissipate heat. It allows for a good amount of airflow through the very top of the mattress.
Comfort Layers
The main comfort layer on the Nectar Premier is made from 3” of gel memory foam with PCM (Phase Change Material) infused into its surface. That’s a fancy way of saying this layer will help draw heat away from your body.
Underneath the memory foam, there’s a 3” transition layer of soft, conventional foam that prevents sleepers from bottoming out in the firmer support layer below.
Support Layer
The Nectar Premier’s base layer consists of 7” of high-density base foam. This material provides structural support for the mattress overall.

After examining the Nectar Premier’s construction, we put this bed through a barrage of tests to better understand its temperature regulation, edge support, motion transfer, and more. Let’s see how it performed!
Sleeping Hot Or Cold
The Nectar Premier is an all-foam mattress, and beds in this category often trap some heat. But this bed uses several design features to help with cooling, including its cooling cover, gel infusions, and Phase Change Material. This means even hot sleepers who want a foam mattress should sleep comfortably. It should be a great cooling mattress overall.
Motion Transfer
Based on our tests, the Nectar Premier handles motion transfer quite well. The thick foam layers do a great job of absorbing motion and minimizing disturbances across the surface of the bed. This mattress has great motion isolation and could be a great mattress for couples.
Edge Support
Even though this mattress is on the softer side, we found its edge support to be excellent. We felt secure while sitting and lying down near the edges of this bed.
Durability
The Nectar Premier mattress features high-density foams, so it should not sag or break down very quickly. With proper care, expect this bed to last for at least 10 years.
Off-Gassing
We did observe some initial off-gassing from this mattress. This should dissipate within a few days.
Noise
When we moved around on this bed, it didn’t make any notable noise. Because this is an all-foam bed, it should remain noise-free over the long haul.
Sex
A mattress that’s good for sex makes it easy for sexual partners to change positions. The Nectar Premier should have enough bounce that partners don’t feel stuck.

These mattresses differ right out of the box thanks to their distinct constructions. While the Nectar Premier is an all-foam mattress, the DreamCloud is a hybrid bed that layers soft memory foam over individually-wrapped coils.
These beds also differ when it comes to firmness. We ranked the Nectar Premier around 6/10, or softer-than-average. The DreamCloud is notably firmer at 7.5/10, which is also firmer-than-average.
