What Do the Brooklinen Flannel Sheets Feel Like?
Brooklinen uses something called brushed cotton, hence the name brushed flannel, for its flannel sheets. This gives the sheets a soft, almost fuzzy texture to them. These are flannels, so they’re going to be a bit thicker than your standard cotton or bamboo sheets.

I’ll be honest – when it came time to test out the Brooklinen Flannels, I was a little worried. I am a textbook hot sleeper, and flannels are more commonly intended for cold weather. Living in Texas, I don’t get to see cold weather except for about December through the end of February.
When I first tested these sheets out, it was still a bit chilly outside. So, I knew they were going to feel comfortable. And they were! I loved how soft and slightly fuzzy the sheets felt.
And when I climbed into bed, I only needed the top sheet. It’s much thicker than the bamboo sheets I use on a regular basis. After a few minutes, I was expecting to kick them off, but I’m happy to say that I kept the sheets on the whole time I napped.
However, because I do live in Texas, and we start to see temperatures over 90 degrees by May and over 100 over the summer, I know these aren’t going to work out year-round for me.

Cotton is naturally breathable, so in those colder days when I tested the sheets, they felt comfortable. But breathability alone won’t keep me cool during the hot summer months. Overall, they felt comfortable, but would be very situational for me.

Sleeping Hot or Cold
Though cotton is breathable, these sheets are going to keep you fairly cozy while you use them. If you live in a warm climate like I do, they may only help out during the cold months.
And if you’re someone who worries about staying dry, there’s nothing in these sheets that will wick away moisture to keep the night sweats off you.
However, if you tend to get cold fairly quickly, or just live in a climate where the cold sticks around much longer, these are a good option.
Care Instructions
The Brooklinen Flannel Sheet set can be machine-washed. Here’s what Brooklinen recommends:

- Tumble dry on low heat
- You have the option to iron with low heat as well
Brooklinen also mentions that the first few wash cycles may lead to a large amount of lint build up in your dryer. This is normal for fuzzy, flannel sheets. The amount of lint will lessen over time.
