Construction Differences and Notes
- Tempur-Pedic has more models and firmness options.
- Tempur-Pedic tends to have more of a traditional memory foam feel.
- Tempur-Pedic uses more proprietary materials.
- Both brands use both coils and springs, but some Tempur-Pedic options are all-foam.
- Both have relatively complex constructions.
- DreamCloud Premier is thicker than the described Tempur-Pedic option, but Tempur-Pedic also offers thicker options.
Firmness Differences and Notes
While we haven’t made a video about the TEMPUR-Flex Supreme, we have reviewed it. But for all the variety of Tempur-Pedic’s options, they do tend to have a memory-foam-like feel, and this video demonstrating the Tempur-Cloud Supreme’s firmness and feel gives you a sense of what to expect. The Cloud Supreme is softer than the Flex Supreme, but either option will be a bit softer, more quicksand-y, and less bouncy than DreamCloud Premier.
Motion Transfer Differences
DreamCloud Premier is on the firm end of the spectrum and uses materials that have more spring to them. As a result, it isn’t perfect at isolating motion (though it does a respectable job). Tempur-Pedic mattresses generally have more of a traditional memory foam consistency, which helps them absorb movement better than most of the more traditional spring mattress options.
Pick DreamCloud Premier If …
- You want a mattress with bounce. DreamCloud is firmer and uses materials with more spring to them. It has noticeably more bounce than the Tempur-Pedic mattresses.
- You like spring mattresses. DreamCloud has more of a traditional spring mattress feel (as opposed to the true memory foam feel of Tempur-Pedic models).
Pick Tempur-Pedic If …
- You like memory foam. If you like the feeling of sinking into your mattress, you may prefer Tempur-Pedic. (The brand is one of the original memory foam mattress sellers.) Almost all of their mattresses, with the possible exception of the Flex collection, have that classic memory foam feel.
- You want something specific. Tempur-Pedic has a lot of options with different firmnesses and features. If you want something really soft, for example, then Tempur-Pedic is probably your only option.
