Firmness and Feel Differences
Two of the most important factors in any mattress are going to be firmness and feel. Although these beds have a similar firmness, we should say that the Nectar has a softer feel since it’s made entirely of foam. It allows for a more “sleeping-in” feeling. The DreamCloud is more responsive and feels more like “sleeping on top” of the mattress.
How Firm Are The Nectar And DreamCloud Premier Mattresses?
Both the Nectar mattress and the DreamCloud Premier mattress have a medium firmness. They each clocked in at a 6.5 out of 10 on our mattress firmness scale, which is the industry standard for medium firm.
The DreamCloud Premier achieves this balanced feel through its combination of pressure-relieving foams and coils. The Nectar does it through a combination of gentler foams up top and firmer, more responsive foams below.
Sleeping On the Nectar And DreamCloud Premier Mattresses
We found back-sleeping to be extremely comfortable on both the Nectar and the DreamCloud Premier mattress. We experienced pressure relief in our lumbar region, but also didn’t sink too far into the bed, which is essential for maintaining a neutral spinal alignment. Although you’ll definitely sink farther into the Nectar, the thick layer of base support form at the bottom of the bed prevents you from bottoming out and experiencing back pain.
We also felt great side-sleeping on both of these mattresses. Each one has softer foams up top that offer plenty of pressure relief at the shoulders and hips — the areas where side sleepers put the most pressure.
The one sleeping position we don’t think either of these mattresses will be a good fit for is stomach-sleeping. What Do The Nectar And DreamCloud Premier Mattresses Feel Like?
Memory foam is known for creating a lot of contouring and sinkage — a feeling often described as “quicksand.” The Nectar embodies this, allowing you to sink into the bed and experience some deep pressure relief.
The innerspring layer of the DreamCloud Premier creates a more responsive sleeping experience. You won’t feel like you’re sinking into the mattress as much as resting on top of it. You’ll feel more of a lift.
Average-Weight Sleepers: 130lbs–230lbs
Average-weight side sleepers and back sleepers can’t go wrong with either of these beds. They should feel a blend of comfort and support on both of them. They’ll just have to decide which mattress makes the most sense in terms of its feel, features, and price.
We should also take a moment to talk about combination sleepers — folks who change sleeping positions throughout the night. They’ll likely be more comfortable on the DreamCloud Premier, as it’s a more responsive bed and is easier to move around on.
Heavyweight Sleepers: Over 230lbs

Lightweight Sleepers: Under 130lbs
Once again, lightweight back sleepers and side sleepers should sleep soundly on either mattress. Lightweight stomach sleepers might even be comfortable on the DreamCloud Premier, although the Nectar probably won’t be supportive enough for them.

Nectar And DreamCloud Premier Performance Differences
Here at Mattress Clarity, we put all of our mattresses through a series of tests to measure various performance factors that might be important to sleepers. Let’s see how the Nectar and DreamCloud Premier did.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Even though the Nectar is made of memory foam (a material known to sleep hot), its gel infusion in the comfort layer helps it sleep cool. Most sleepers should be able to keep a low temperature on this bed.
But if you’re an especially hot sleeper, the DreamCloud Premier might be the better option. Its springs leave plenty of room for airflow, which helps cool down the mattress significantly. In general, hybrid mattresses are known to sleep cooler than memory foam mattresses.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer refers to how well a bed does or doesn’t isolate motion, especially if you sleep with a partner. If a mattress has high motion transfer, you’re both more likely to feel each other’s movements at night. If a mattress has low motion transfer, you’re unlikely to feel each other’s movement.
All-foam beds tend to be better at isolating motion than innerspring or hybrid mattresses, so we have to give the Nectar the edge. It handles motion exceptionally well; DreamCloud offers a bit more spring/bounce and is thus more average in terms of isolating motion.
Edge Support
One would think that the DreamCloud Premier has better edge support than the Nectar, as hybrid mattresses with springs tend to perform better in this category.
To our surprise, though, the Nectar had stronger edge support. When we sit on the end of the bed, we don’t feel it collapsing. This means you should be able to spread out all the way to the edge of the mattress without feeling like you’re going to fall off.
Durability
For an all-foam mattress, the Nectar is quite durable. However, hybrid mattresses tend to last longer than all-foam ones do, so if durability is important to you, the DreamCloud Premier probably has the upper hand.
But just to be clear, know that these are both durable mattresses that should last at least seven years.
Off-Gassing
Off-gassing refers to the slight chemical smell that sometimes accompanies bed-in-a-box mattresses when you unroll them. Since both of these mattresses arrive rolled and compressed to your doorstep, you should expect to experience some off-gassing. But rest assured that the smell is completely harmless and usually dissipates in 24–48 hours.
Noise
We didn’t find either of these mattresses to be especially noisy. However, springs do have the potential to begin squeaking over time, so if noise is a concern for you, the all-foam Nectar is probably going to be the quieter mattress in the long run.
Sex
The best mattress for sex is going to be responsive and easy to move around on. As we said, the Nectar has more sinkage than the DreamCloud Premier, so it’s slightly harder to change positions on this bed. The DreamCloud, on the other hand, has lots of bounce and responsiveness from its coils. We think it’s far and away the better mattress for sex.
