Titan Luxe Vs Big Fig Overview
If you’re looking for one of the best mattresses for heavy people, you can’t go wrong with either the Titan Luxe or Big Fig. But just because they were both designed to suit larger sleepers doesn’t mean they’re exactly the same.
The Titan Luxe comes from Brooklyn Bedding, a company known for creating quality and affordable mattresses. They produce two different Titan models: the Titan Firm Hybrid and Luxe Hybrid. Today, we’re focusing specifically on the higher-end Luxe Hybrid.
Big Fig sells one type of mattress, and like the Titan, it was created with heavier people in mind. Their beds come with a special foundation, which is designed to support 5 times more weight than a typical bed base.
Let’s take a quick look at who might prefer each mattress.

Firmness and Feel Differences
The Titan Luxe and Big Fig vary slightly in terms of firmness and feel. We’ll take a closer look at their overall feel to help you decide which one is the best pick for you.
How Firm Are The Titan Luxe And Big Fig Mattresses?
The Titan mattress feels like a 6.5/10 on our firmness scale, which is the industry standard. With plush comfort layers on top and supportive coils on the bottom, this mattress has a balanced medium-firm feel. The Firm Hybrid is significantly firmer.
The Big Fig Mattress feels much firmer, earning 8/10 on our firmness scale. Because of this, it’s possible the Big Fig could handle more weight than the Titan Luxe.
Sleeping On the Titan Luxe And Big Fig Mattresses
Back sleepers should feel a good balance of comfort and support on the Brooklyn Bedding Titan Luxe. The foam layers aid in pressure point relief while the supportive coils help keep the body in alignment.
The Titan Luxe is also a good option for side sleepers. People who prefer this sleeping position shouldn’t feel pain on their shoulders and hips while relaxing on the Titan Luxe.
Stomach sleepers, though, may find the Titan Luxe feels too soft. Its memory foam comfort layers don’t provide enough hip support, so people could develop joint pain over time.
On the Big Fig, average weight back sleepers may find it feels too firm. People who weigh less than 300lbs might notice the mattress doesn’t promote proper spinal alignment. Heavier people, on the other hand, may have a different experience.
Similarly, the Big Fig may not be the best option for side sleepers, While the pillow top provides a decent amount of pressure relief, the Big Fig may still feel too firm for many side sleepers.
Stomach sleepers should feel very supported and comfortable on the Big Fig. Its firm feel helps keep the body in alignment, which is exactly what stomach sleepers should look for in a mattress.
What Do The Titan Luxe And Big Fig Mattresses Feel Like?
The Titan Luxe mattress has a responsive feel, so it’s easy to move around on. Sleepers will notice a bit of a slow-moving memory foam feel in the comfort layers, but the supportive coils on the bottom give it a bit of a bounce.
The Big Fig feels similar to the Titan Luxe. It has a balanced hybrid feel that’s both bouncy and responsive due to the latex layer. It doesn’t have as much of that slow-moving memory foam feel in the comfort layers.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
Average weight back sleepers should feel very comfortable on the Titan Luxe mattress. Side sleepers in this category, however, may find the Titan Luxe is too firm. The comfort layers may not provide enough pressure relief on joints, so average weight side sleepers might feel more comfortable on a softer mattress.
Average weight stomach sleepers, on the other hand, may find the bed’s firmness level is a positive element because it helps keep hips in alignment.
On the Big Fig, average weight back sleepers probably won’t feel too comfortable. This is a firmer mattress, so people in this weight category might feel pushed out of the mattress while lying on their backs. Average weight side sleepers may also think the Big Fig feels too firm. They aren’t likely to sink deeply into the comfort layers, so the bed may not keep their body in alignment throughout the night.
Average weight stomach sleepers may feel the Big Fig is a great fit. The bed’s firm feel prevents hips from bowing into the top layer, so stomach sleepers should stay in alignment and feel quite comfortable.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
The Titan Luxe Hybrid should be a great fit for heavier back sleepers. Side sleepers in this category should also find the mattress feels supportive and comfortable. Heavyweight stomach sleepers, on the other hand, may think the Titan Luxe feels a bit too soft. They could feel their hips dipping out of alignment over time. Stomach sleepers in this category may prefer the feel of the Titan Firm Hybrid.
The Big Fig was designed specifically for heavier sleepers, so it should feel comfortable in all sleeping positions. Heavyweight back sleepers will likely feel the plush pillow top layer contour their lumbar area. Side sleepers in this category should also benefit from the soft pressure relief and innerspring layer. Even heavyweight stomach sleepers should get the necessary support on the Big Fig mattress.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
The Titan Luxe wasn’t designed for lightweight sleepers, so they aren’t likely to feel as much comfort on this mattress. Back sleepers who weigh less than 130 lbs may enjoy the Titan Luxe if they prefer a firmer mattress. But generally, this mattress won’t provide enough body contouring. Lightweight side sleepers will also probably feel a significant amount of pressure on their joints.
Lighter stomach sleepers may find the Titan Luxe is a decent option, but they will probably have more success with a different Brooklyn Bedding mattress such as the Aurora or Bowery.
Similarly, the Big Fig is not a great option for most lightweight sleepers. Because it’s a firm mattress, people in this category will find they need more comfort while back and side sleeping. The Big Fig may be a good choice for lightweight stomach sleepers because it is firm enough to support proper spinal alignment.

Titan Luxe And Big Fig Performance Differences
Now, let’s see how the Titan Luxe and Big Fig mattresses compare when it comes to durability, cooling, edge support, and motion transfer.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
The Titan Luxe has many features that are designed to dissipate heat, including cooling gel infusions in the foam and innerspring coils. If you really struggle with sleeping hot at night, you can add a cooling panel to the top of the mattress.
The Big Fig also has good cooling features. The ThermoGel foam helps dissipate heat, and the coils promote airflow.
Motion Transfer
If motion transfer is a top priority, both mattresses should be great options. We found the Titan Luxe performs slightly better with motion isolation, so it should be a great mattress for couples.
Edge Support
The Titan Luxe’s edge support isn’t the best. We felt the sides collapsing whenever we sat near the edge, and we didn’t feel completely secure.
The Big Fig mattress is equipped with a foam encasement, which provides excellent edge support. Sleepers should feel very secure when sitting or lying down near the edge of this mattress.
Durability
Both mattresses are made with durable materials in order to support heavier weights, so we expect them to last a long time. We estimate the Titan Luxe and Big Fig mattresses should sleep comfortably for at least 10 years.
To see more durable options, check out our best mattresses that won’t sag.
Off-Gassing
When opening a new mattress, it’s common to notice some off-gassing, or a slight chemical smell. An odor was prevalent with both the Titan Luxe and Big Fig, but it completely faded after 48 hours.
Noise
When testing the Titan Luxe and Big Fig mattresses, we did not notice any noise. It’s possible the coils could creak over time, but we do not expect this to be an issue.
Sex
Couples looking for the best mattress for sex will want something that’s easy to move around on. Both the Titan Luxe and Big Fig mattresses have a responsive and bouncy feel, so they should be good mattresses for getting intimate.
Company Policies
Before buying a new mattress, we always recommend reading all of the fine print. Keep scrolling for some information about Titan and Big Fig’s company policies.
Warranty Info
Titan Luxe has a 10-year warranty, and the Big Fig is backed by a 20-year warranty.
