Key Similarities Between The Avocado And Saatva Latex Hybrid
As we stated above, these two mattresses have a lot of similarities. Let’s get into the details now.
- The Avocado Green and Saatva Latex Hybrid are both latex hybrid mattresses.
- Both mattresses contain eco-friendly, organic materials.
- The Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid are both cooling, breathable mattresses.
- Both are bouncy, responsive mattresses.
- Both mattresses feature some type of firmness zoning in their construction.
Key Differences Between The Avocado And Saatva Latex Hybrid
The Avocado Green comes with an optional pillow top, while the Saatva Latex Hybrid does not.
- Without the pillow top, the Avocado costs less than the Saatva Latex Hybrid. With the pillow top, it costs just a bit more.
- With the pillow top, the Avocado is softer than the Saatva Latex Hybrid. Without it, it is pretty much the same firmness.
- Avocado comes with a longer sleep trial and warranty period.
Firmness And Feel Differences
The Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid mattresses are both latex hybrids, but they do have some differences when it comes to firmness and feel.
How Firm Are The Avocado And Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattresses?
The Avocado mattress will feel firmer depending on whether or not you opt for the additional pillow top. Without the pillow top, the mattress will feel closer to a 7.5/10, firmer-than-average. With the pillow-top, the mattress feels closer to a 6.5, very close to medium-firm.
With the Saatva Latex Hybrid, you do not get firmness options. It feels like a 7.5/10, firmer-than-average.
Sleeping On The Avocado And Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattresses
So, what does it feel like to actually sleep on these two mattresses? Starting off on the Avocado mattress (with the pillow-top), it felt really nice while back sleeping. Our hips sank into the plush pillow top, while the rest of the body felt well supported.
Side sleeping, we got some great pressure relief from the pillow top. Without the pillow-top, we imagine that we would feel more pressure in those areas.
Stomach sleeping, we would probably go without the pillow top, as it causes the hips to sink in too far. This is something to pay attention to, as it could lead to back pain over time.
Back sleeping on the Saatva Latex Hybrid, there is a nice balance of comfort and support. The zoned latex layer provides extra lumbar support, so it feels particularly comfortable in this position.
Side sleeping, there wasn’t the same pressure relief as on the Avocado. The firmer feel led to some bunching up around the shoulders and hips.
Stomach sleeping, the Saatva Latex Hybrid really shines. It’s supportive under the hips, which helps prevent back pain down the line.
What Do The Avocado And Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattresses Feel Like?
The Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid have a very similar feel. Given that they are both latex hybrid mattresses, this is not too surprising. The coils and latex give both mattresses a good deal of bounce. They are very responsive, and this makes it very easy to change positions during the night.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs
When it comes to back sleeping, the Avocado is going to be the better match for this weight range. Unless you are over 200 lbs, you will most likely feel a better balance of comfort and support on the Avocado.
Side sleeping, the Avocado with the pillow-top is going to win out here as well. Side sleepers in this weight range might feel too much pressure side sleeping on the Saatva Latex Hybrid.
Stomach sleepers will most likely prefer the Saatva Latex Hybrid as it is the firmer of the two mattresses. The Avocado could also work, but we wouldn’t recommend going with the pillow-top version.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs
Many heavyweight back sleepers should get the support they need on both of these mattresses. The Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid both feature supportive coils and durable latex that should be able to handle that heavier weight. If you are over 300 lbs, you might want to find a mattress for heavy people.
Side sleeping, both mattresses could be a good fit for heavier people. Larger bodies will really compress the latex layers, reducing pressure around the shoulders and hips.
Heavier stomach sleepers should feel better support on the firmer Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress. They can also choose the Avocado mattress without the pillow-top. Again, if you weigh over 300 lbs, you might want to find a mattress with even more support. Otherwise, you could feel your hips bowing into the mattress and this could cause pain over time.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lbs
If you weigh less than 130 lbs, back sleeping will definitely feel more comfortable on the Avocado mattress. The Saatva Latex Hybrid will likely feel too firm for you, and it could feel like your hips are being pushed out of the mattress. If you are a side sleeper, the Avocado with pillow-top will also be the way to go. Stomach sleeping, both mattresses should work for alighter body.
Mattress Construction Differences
Now, let’s pop the hood on these two mattresses and see exactly what is going on inside.
Cover
Right on top, the Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid mattresses are quite similar. They both feature organic cotton covers with thin layers of wool beneath. This adds some plushness to the Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid.
Comfort Layers
With the pillow-top, the Avocado contains 5” of Dunlop latex. This material is durable, bouncy, and breathable as well. This latex is responsibly sourced and is designed to be better for the environment. Without the pillow-top, you will only get 3” of Dunlop latex.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid features 3” of natural latex with 5 zones. This means this layer is firmer and softer in different areas. This is meant to give you targeted support under key areas such as the lumbar zone.
Support Layers
The Avocado Green contains individually-wrapped coils that are also zoned. The Saatva Latex Hybrid also features zoned coils. Again, this should give you more support under the lumbar area and help keep your spine neutrally aligned in all three positions.
Mattress Height
With the pillow-top, the Avocado is 13” tall but, without it, it is 11” tall. The Saatva Latex Hybrid is 13” tall.

Avocado vs Saatva Latex Hybrid Performance Differences
Let’s put these two online mattresses to the test! We’ll talk about how they perform in a variety of categories.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
These latex hybrid mattresses are both going to be good choices for hot sleepers.
Their comfort layers contain organic latex, a naturally-cooling material. It will not trap heat the way memory foam is known to do. The breathable cotton and wool on top should also allow for air to flow through the covers of both mattresses. Add in airflow-promoting coils, and you’ve got two cool-sleeping mattresses!

Motion Transfer
Okay, let’s be real — latex mattresses aren’t always the best at handling motion transfer. Their bouncy nature just can’t compete with the motion absorbing power of memory foam.
Not surprisingly, the Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid didn’t perform too well in our motion transfer tests. If you sleep with a partner, you could feel it when they move around at night. You might want to keep looking for a good mattress for couples if you’re easily disturbed by movement.
Edge Support
What these mattresses lack in motion isolation, they definitely make up for with their solid edge support. Sitting near the edge of the Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid, you’ll feel very supported. Lying down, it doesn’t feel like you are going to roll off. If you sleep with a partner or just like sleeping toward the edge of your mattress, this is a definite plus.
Durability
Latex mattresses are known for being great durable options, and the Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid are no exceptions. They boast durable latex and high-end constructions, so they should last for at least 10-15 years.
Off-gassing
Unlike memory foam mattresses, latex mattresses rarely off-gas too much. Unboxing the Avocado, we did not notice any real chemical smells, and we could sleep on it right away. The Saatva Latex Hybrid came fully expanded, so there was no off-gassing at all!
Noise
During our time with these mattresses, we did not hear any serious noise when we moved around at night. This might change over time as the coils weaken. This means you could hear some more squeaking after owning these mattresses for a longer amount of time.
Sex
Those who want the best mattress for sex usually want something very bouncy and responsive. The Avocado and Saatva Latex mattresses are definitely bouncy! This should make it easy for sexual partners to change positions and move around.
Company Policies
It’s always a good idea to look at the small print when you’re shopping for a mattress. Let’s see what the policies look like for the Avocado and Saatva Latex Hybrid.

The Avocado comes with a 25-year limited warranty, and the Saatva Latex Hybrid comes with a 15-year warranty.
