Amerisleep Construction
- Amerisleep has five firmness levels, and the thinner the mattress, the firmer it will be. The 10″ thick AS1 is the firmest. Construction is similar across the different models, especially for the middle three firmness levels. Firmness options are explained in greater depth here.
- Amerisleep’s cover is made of Celliant. Celliant is said to distribute thermal energy in such a way as to help with muscle recovery, and is used in some athletic clothing.
- All of Amerisleep’s mattresses have a top layer of its Bio-Pur memory foam, but the thickness of this layer varies by firmness level. This foam is intended to ensure cool sleeping.
- AS5 has an additional layer of a special foam that makes it softer. This is the model’s second layer and is not included in other models.
- The middle layer of the medium firm options (AS2, AS3 and AS4) is a supportive transition foam layer. This layer is thickest in AS2 and thinnest in AS4. AS5 also has a layer of this material.
- AS1 skips a middle layer in other firmness levels, and goes straight from the Bio-Pur comfort layer to a dense 8″ thick base layer. The thickness of this layer and the lack of middle layers make AS1 firmer. Other models have a 7″ base layer of dense support foam.
