Tuft & Needle Pillow Firmness and Feel
Your pillow’s firmness level and feel will greatly impact your night’s sleep. Keep reading to learn whether Tuft & Needle makes the perfect pillow for you.
How Firm is The Tuft & Needle Pillow?
The Tuft & Needle Pillow has a medium firm feel, making it a great option for back and side sleepers. Thanks to its unique foam, the pillow won’t sag or lose shape throughout the night.
Sleeping on The Tuft & Needle Pillow
When shopping for a new pillow, it’s important to find something that will promote a neutral alignment. For side sleepers, neutral alignment means the ears are in line with shoulders. Back and stomach sleepers will want their chins to line up with their sternums.
The Tuft & Needle Pillow has a 5” loft, so it’s a great fit for back and side sleepers. Stomach sleepers, on the other hand, will find this pillow too tall. In this sleeping position, people will likely feel their necks crane out of alignment.
What does the Tuft & Needle Pillow Feel Like?
T&N Adaptive foam immediately snaps back into place after you apply pressure. This means it won’t sag over time. The material cradles the neck and head, but you shouldn’t feel like you’re sinking straight through it.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
Average weight sleepers will feel most comfortable while back and side sleeping. The pillow’s 5” loft will help people in this category maintain a neutral alignment throughout the night.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
Because this pillow feels responsive and supportive, it’s a great match for heavyweight sleepers. Those who weigh more than 230lbs will feel the most comfortable while back and side sleeping. Especially tall people, however, may want to find a pillow with a higher loft.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
Lightweight back and side sleepers will likely reach neutral alignment on the Tuft & Needle pillow. Stomach sleepers, as a whole, won’t find this pillow too comfortable.
Tuft & Needle Pillow Construction
To really understand how this pillow comes together, we’ll need to take a close look at its construction.
Cover
The pillow’s micro polyamide and polyester cover feels soft and breathable. Because it’s stretchy and thin, it won’t trap heat easily.
Core
The pillow’s core is made from Tuft & Needle’s special Adaptive foam. Instead of shredding or molding the material, Tuft & Needle custom cuts each piece. This keeps the pillow feeling supportive and breathable.
To further aid with cooling, Tuft & Needle infused the foam with graphite. This material helps pull heat away from the body, so you shouldn’t wake up feeling hot and clammy at night.
Additionally, Tuft & Needle placed cooling gel beads throughout the foam. This does two things. First, it promotes airflow. Sleepers shouldn’t have any issues feeling hot on this pillow. And when you apply pressure to this pillow, the beads stack on top of each other and create more support.
Weight
The standard pillow weighs 5lbs, and the king size pillow weighs 6lbs.
Height/Loft
The pillow’s height, also known as loft, is 5″.

Common Tuft & Needle Pillow Complaints
You’ll find loads of favorable customer reviews, but some people did have some complaints. Most of the time, people noted that it’s not comfortable when lying on your stomach. Like we mentioned above, stomach sleepers should look for a pillow that’s almost completely flat. Because this products has a 5” loft, it’s too tall to promote a neutral alignment.
How Does The Tuft & Needle Compare To Other Pillows?
Before making your final purchase, you may want to consider some other options. Let’s learn more about how the Tuft & Needle pillow compares to other popular pillows on the market.
Tuft & Needle Pillow Vs. Casper Foam Pillow
Tuft & Needle and Casper’s foam pillows have many similarities. They both have a responsive feel, and they should last a long time. Side sleepers, especially, will feel comfortable on these pillows.
While both pillows promote breathability, the Tuft & Needle pillow has more cooling features. Thanks to its graphite infusion and cooling gel beads, the Tuft & Needle pillow shouldn’t trap heat at all.
The Casper pillow has a higher price point, but it has more customization options. Shoppers can choose between a mid loft or low loft pillow, so it’s well suited for a variety of different sleepers.

Tuft & Needle Pillow Vs. Layla Kapok Pillow
These two pillows feel quite different. The Layla Kapok pillow is filled with Kapok tree fibers and shredded pieces of gel-infused memory foam. This makes the pillow feel similar to down.
The T&N pillow, on the other hand, feels squishy and responsive. It’s made with a thick piece of Adaptive foam, so it stays supportive all night long. It’s best suited for back and side sleepers.
Because of its thick filling, the Layla Kapok pillow is easily customizable. If you want to lower its loft and make it feel softer, you can easily remove some of the interior fibers. However, this pillow does cost a bit more than Tuft & Needle’s.
