Firmness And Feel Differences
One of the main ways in which the DreamCloud Premier and Saatva differ is in regard to their firmness and feel, and this makes them a better match for different sleeping positions and types of sleepers.
How Firm Are The DreamCloud Premier And Saatva Mattresses?
The DreamCloud Premier mattress feels like a 6.5/10 and is just about medium in terms of firmness – the top layer of plush memory foam is quite soft, but the support layers beneath are on the firmer side.
The Saatva is available in three firmnesses, and we reviewed their most popular firmness, the Luxury Firm; it feels like a 7/10, and is a bit firmer than average. The Euro top is not quite as soft as the top of the DreamCloud Premier, so it does not have quite as much give.
Sleeping On The DreamCloud Premier and Saatva Mattresses
Back sleeping, the DreamCloud Premier feels like a decent fit for us as the coils support us, and the memory foam is conforming to the curves of our body as well. Side sleeping, the soft memory foam relieves most pressure on the shoulders and hips but, moving to the stomach, the mattress is not firm enough.
Back sleeping on the Saatva feels even better because it is a more supportive mattress – it doesn’t contour as much as the DreamCloud Premier, but the lumbar support is better because of that extra lumbar layer. Side sleeping, it doesn’t relieve pressure as well as the DreamCloud Premier, and we did feel some firmness on our shoulders and hips. However, stomach sleeping on the Saatva, we experienced much better support than we did on the DreamCloud Premier.
What Do The DreamCloud Premier And Saatva Mattresses Feel Like?
The DreamCloud Premier mattress is a hybrid mattress with a plush memory foam layer right on top and, because of this, the mattress has a mostly balanced hybrid feel. At the same time, we do feel like we sink into the memory foam and it is more like “sleeping in” the mattress.
While the Saatva is also a hybrid mattress, it has more of an innerspring mattress feel with some pillow top plushness on top. However, it doesn’t let us sink in particularly far, and it feels more like “sleeping on” the mattress.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs
Average weight sleepers could like either the DreamCloud Premier or Saatva, but it does depend on their sleeping position. For instance, average weight side sleepers will prefer the DreamCloud because it is a bit softer, and average weight back and stomach sleepers will most likely prefer the Saatva.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs
Those who need the best mattress for heavy people will, in general, prefer the Saatva over the DreamCloud Premier because they have greater support needs, and the Saatva is more up to the challenge. Some heavier side sleepers, such as our team member, Marten, did feel better pressure relief on the DreamCloud, however.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lbs
Both mattresses could be a good match for lightweight sleepers but, again, it depends on their sleeping position. Lightweight side sleepers will probably feel better pressure relief on the DreamCloud but, both mattresses could be a good fit for lightweight back and stomach sleepers.
See our list of the best mattresses for lightweight sleepers.
Mattress Construction Differences
These mattresses are quite similar in terms of construction but, upon closer look, they do feature some different materials that will change their overall performance.
Cover
The DreamCloud Premier’s cover is made of a cashmere blend that is very soft to the touch and is also designed to be breathable and to help air pass through the top of the mattress. The Saatva’s cover is made of organic cotton and is not as soft as the DreamCloud Premier’s cover, but it is still very breathable.
Comfort Layers
The cover of the DreamCloud Premier is quilted with a soft memory foam that adds some significant comfort to the top of the mattress. Below that, there is a layer of gel-infused memory foam which will provide more pressure relief, and the gel infusion should keep it from trapping too much heat. Finally, there is a layer of high-density foam that transitions sleepers down to the support layers beneath.
The cover of the Saatva is also quilted with foam and, beneath that, there is a thin layer of memory foam that is there to provide extra lumbar support for back sleepers.
Support Layers
The DreamCloud Premier contains one layer of individually-wrapped coils in its support layer. The Saatva contains two layers of coils – the first is a set of individually-wrapped coils and the second is a set of high-grade support coils. Just looking at these differences in materials, the Saatva should be more supportive than the DreamCloud Premier.
Mattress Height
The DreamCloud Premier mattress is 15″ tall and is a pretty substantial mattress. The Saatva mattress is available in two heights: 11.5″ and 14.5″ – we reviewed the 11.5″ model but, according to the company, the height won’t affect the performance of the Saatva.

DreamCloud Premier vs Saatva Performance Differences
Now, let’s discuss how the DreamCloud Premier and Saatva mattresses really perform and how they compare in regard to motion transfer, cooling, and other aspects.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Neither the DreamCloud Premier nor Saatva mattress should sleep particularly hot because they both have breathable covers and their coils allow for a fantastic amount of airflow. However, given that there are two layers of coils in the Saatva, it could sleep a bit cooler than the DreamCloud Premier mattress.
Motion Transfer
Testing out both the DreamCloud Premier and Saatva mattresses, we saw more motion transfer on the Saatva. The DreamCloud features memory foam in its top layer, and this material is known for isolating motion very well. Those who need the best mattress for couples could be better off on the DreamCloud.
Edge Support
The Saatva features much better edge support than the DreamCloud Premier mattress – sitting or lying down near the edge of the Saatva, we feel much more secure than we do on the DreamCloud Premier. It is easier to sleep toward the edge of the Saatva without feeling like we are going to roll off.
Durability
While both mattresses are quite durable, the Saatva might last for a longer amount of time. It just appears to contain some higher-end materials and, with two sets of coils, it might not sag as quickly as the DreamCloud Premier.
Off-gassing
The DreamCloud Premier and Saatva were both delivered right to our house, but we actually had to unbox the DreamCloud Premier ourselves. The Saatva came with in-home setup, and it wasn’t rolled up in a box and, because of this, there was less of a chemical smell with the Saatva mattress. That being said, after 48 hours, the DreamCloud Premier’s chemical smell completely dissipated.
Noise
We didn’t find the DreamCloud Premier or Saatva mattresses to be noisy whatsoever. They both contain coils, so this might change over time.
Sex
Mattresses that are more responsive are usually a better match for sex. If a mattress is too soft and lets the couple sink in too much, it will be much more difficult to use. Because of this, the Saatva seems to be a better mattress for sex because it is firmer and more responsive than the DreamCloud, and it should be easier to move around and get intimate on the Saatva.
Warranty Info
The DreamCloud Premier comes with a lifetime warranty and a 365-night sleep trial, and the Saatva comes with a lifetime year warranty and a 365-night sleep trial.
