Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid Mattress Review: General Overview
In my time as a mattress reviewer, I’ve tried out the majority of the Leesa mattresses. I’ve been impressed by the comfortable Leesa Original, Leesa Sapira Hybrid and many others. Now, Leesa has a new line of Chill mattresses, including the Studio Chill Hybrid, Oasis Chill Hybrid and the Sapira Chill Hybrid.
As a fan of the original Leesa Sapira Hybrid mattress, I was interested in what new cooling features the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid had to offer. And, after sleeping on the mattress, I can say it is one of the better cooling mattresses I have tried.
Pros of the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid Mattress
- This mattress is cool as a cucumber. The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid boasts a cooling cover, special cooling infusions and breathable coils and foams. It’s cool to the touch and should keep you nice and chill all night.
- You get firmness options with the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid. Let’s face it, there’s no one right mattress for everyone. But, with this mattress, you can choose from three firmnesses, so you’ll get just the right comfort and support for your sleeping position.
- There’s nothing quite like a comfy pillow top. The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid features a thick, plush pillow top that really rises off the mattress. If you’re a fan of nice hotel mattresses, this might be the mattress for you.
Cons of the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid Mattress
- You don’t get a memory foam feel. If you like to lie down on your mattress and feel the soft hug of memory foam, this won’t be the mattress for you. Yes, it contains memory foam, but you get more of a responsive pillow top feel with the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid.
- It’s not great for people on a tight budget. The mattress contains some high-end materials so, unsurprisingly, it costs more than some bed-in-a-box mattresses. In my experience, it’s worth the money, but it might just cost too much for some budget shoppers.

Let’s start off by chatting about the firmness and feel of the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid.
How Firm is the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid?
The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid comes in three firmnesses, Soft, Medium-Firm and Firm. I personally reviewed the Medium-Firm model, and it felt like a 6/10 to me. This is slightly softer than 6.5, which is the industry standard for medium-firm. When I lay down on the mattress, I could really feel the plushness of the pillow top.
At the same time, the mattress did not lack support. The mattress is also zoned, meaning it feels firmer toward the center. This will provide extra support under your lumbar area and will keep your spine in good alignment, no matter what position you sleep in.
Sleeping on the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid
Back sleeping on the Medium-Firm Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid was a dream. The mattress was supportive enough to hold up my 270 lb, and the pillow top gave me just the right of plush comfort. I also felt the zoning providing extra support to my lumbar area.
Even as a bigger guy, I still got enough pressure relief on the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid. The mattress is softer under the shoulder area, and I felt almost no pressure there. However, if you just sleep on your side, you will feel better on the Soft model.
The Medium-Firm version of this mattress did not give me enough support when I was lying on my stomach. Stomach sleepers should check out the Firm model or look at our best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
What Does the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid Mattress Feel Like?
In my experience, the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid has a soft, plush pillow top feel. There is memory foam in the mattress, but I couldn’t feel it when I slept on the mattress. Instead, I felt the plush feel on top with some good response below. This made it easy to change positions, and I never felt stuck on the mattress.

Now, let’s talk about the materials you’ll find in the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid.
Cover
The cooling qualities of the Sapira Chill Hybrid mattress start off right on top with the cover. According to the brand, the cover contains cooling fibers that will keep your skin at 88 degrees. I can’t speak to the 88 degrees, but the cover is truly cool-to-the-touch.
Comfort Layers
There are numerous comfort layers in the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid, and most of them also work to keep you cool while you sleep. First off, quilted into the cover, you’ll find a thick layer of foam that is infused with gel. Like with many online mattresses, this gel is intended to dissipate your body heat and to keep the mattress from trapping heat.
Beneath that, there is a layer of breathable foam on top of a layer of adaptable memory foam. Both are designed to offer pressure relief and good response. Both of these layers should keep you from feeling stuck in the mattress.
Finally, a layer of premium foam acts as a transition layer. This adds some more pressure relief to the mattress but also prevents you from digging into the support layers.
Support Layers
The main support layer consists of individually-wrapped coils. These are supportive and promote airflow through the mattress. In addition, they are zoned, meaning they are firmer in certain areas of the mattress. This design feature is intended to keep your spine neutrally aligned and to prevent back pain and other joint issues.
All of these layers rest on a layer of high-density base foam. This supports all of the layers above and prevents the coils from interacting with or damaging your bed frame.

Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid Mattress Performance
Besides testing the firmness and feel of the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid, I also tested it for cooling, motion isolation and other criteria.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid lived up to its name when I tested it. First off, when I was lying down, I could feel the cooling cover doing its thing. Also, sleeping on the mattress, I did not overheat or wake up sweating during the night. Again, I live in a warmer area, but the mattress was up to the task.
Motion Transfer
I was also impressed by the motion isolation on the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid. Hybrid mattresses aren’t always the best at isolating motion because they are bouncy and allow motion to move from one side of the mattress to the other.
However, this wasn’t too much of an issue on this mattress. When my coworker moved around on one side of the mattress, I didn’t feel this motion transfer to my side. Also, I placed a glass of water on one side of the Leesa and pushed into the mattress on the other side. I saw only a little bit of disturbance in the water.
The results of both of these tests mean the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid could be a good mattress for couples.
Edge Support
Couples should also be pleased with the edge support on the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid. The edge is reinforced on this mattress, so I felt very comfortable all the way at the side of the bed.. Whether I was sitting or lying down, I didn’t feel like I was going to pitch off the mattress.
You and your partner will be able to sleep toward the edge of this mattress. You won’t have to sleep in the center of the mattress all night, unless you really want to.
Durability
Unfortunately, I can’t see into the future to know exactly how long the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid is going to last. However, I can deduce its longevity based on its construction and materials. With its high-density foam and impressive construction, I estimate that it will last at least 10 years.
Off-gassing
I noticed some off-gassing when I unboxed the Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid mattress, but it went away after a few days. This is normal with bed-in-a-box mattresses, but I recommend leaving any new mattress in a well-ventilated room to make this smell go away more quickly.
Noise
While it is a hybrid mattress, the Leesa’s coils made no noise when I moved around on top. However, keep in mind that coil mattresses like the Leesa may start to squeak after a few years.
Sex
The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid is a responsive mattress that makes it very easy to move around on. This makes it a good fit for sexual partners because no one should have trouble getting stuck in the mattress.

Warranty Info
The Leesa mattresses come with a 10-year limited warranty. This covers any indentations larger than 1” that form during this 10-year period. Also, any manufacturing defects in the foam or cover are covered.
However, if you don’t pair the mattress with a proper base or damage the mattress yourself, the warranty will be void.
Sleep Trial
You get a 100-night sleep trial with all of the Leesa mattresses. During this time, you can try out your new mattress to see if it’s a good fit for you. The brand asks that you give the mattress at least 30 days to soften and adapt to your body. If you still don’t like it between 31 and 100 days, you can return for a full refund.
Return Policy
If, during the 31 and 100-day mark, you decide you want to return your mattress, you can call Leesa to start the return process. You may be asked to donate your mattress to a local charity and, upon proof of receipt, Leesa will send your full refund. If this is not an option, the brand will send someone to pick up your mattress, and then they will refund your money.
Common Leesa Mattress Complaints
Looking online, the majority of customer complaints have to do with Leesa’s warranty and sleep trial. Some customers thought the warranty was confusing and had issues working with the brand’s customer service team. However, looking at the Better Business Bureau site, it appears most of these complaints were settled.
