How Firm is the Casper Hybrid?
We ranked the Casper Hybrid around a 7/10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for medium firmness is 6.5/10, so this suggests the Casper Hybrid is a touch firmer than medium-firm.
That said, because of the Zoned Support system, this bed’s firmness might vary depending on a person’s sleep position. For instance, some people might find that the mattress feels softer while side sleeping and firmer when stomach or back sleeping.

Sleeping On the Casper Hybrid (Sleeping Positions)
We felt both comfortable and supported while back sleeping on the Casper Hybrid mattress. Our hips sank in just a little bit for some pressure relief, but they still felt elevated enough to remain in line with the spine and create neutral spinal alignment. We also felt great lumbar support from the Zoned Support system and great overall support from the pocketed coils.

Moving to our side, we enjoyed some pressure relief around the hip. Lighter-weight sleepers should experience even better pressure relief in this position.
While stomach sleeping on the Casper Hybrid, we generally felt well-supported. The pocketed coils and the foams’ Zoned Support system helped elevate our hips and keep them aligned with the spine.
What Does the Casper Hybrid Feel Like?
The Casper Hybrid mattress has a very bouncy, responsive foam feel, which makes it easy to move around on top of the mattress. Additionally, the Zoned Support system creates a firmer feel near the center of the mattress and a softer feel near the head and foot.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
In general, the Casper Hybrid should be a decent match for average-weight sleepers regardless of sleep position. It balances spinal support with pressure relief while back sleeping, offers a touch of pressure relief for side sleepers, and should be supportive enough for average-weight stomach sleepers.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
The Casper Hybrid could be well-matched to back sleepers who are close to 230 pounds. Folks who weigh much more than that might require a more supportive mattress overall. In general, heavyweight side sleepers will probably want a mattress with a softer, thicker comfort layer in order to obtain adequate pressure relief. The Casper Hybrid features a soft and very breathable cover that’s made from recycled bottles.
Comfort Layers
The top comfort layer on the Casper Hybrid is made from Casper’s proprietary Airscape foam, which is perforated to allow for airflow. This layer is both plush and responsive, and it gives the mattress some bounce.
Below the Airscape foam layer is the primary distinguishing feature of the Casper Hybrid: its Zoned Support system. This system is constructed from a layer of memory foam that is firmer near the center and softer around the head and foot of the mattress. The point of this layer is to create a firmer, more supportive feel for back and stomach sleepers while offering side sleepers some pressure relief around the shoulder.
Support Layer
Underneath the Casper Hybrid’s foam comfort layers, there’s a support layer made from pocketed coils. This layer sets the Casper Hybrid apart from the original Casper, which is made exclusively from foam and doesn’t include coils. The coils also allow for additional airflow through the mattress.

While lying down on the Casper Hybrid, we felt pretty supported near the edge. However, we didn’t feel very secure while sitting on the edge of this bed. Overall, the edge support on the Casper Hybrid is just okay.
Durability
This is a fairly durable mattress that should last for at least 7 years. The coils make the Casper Hybrid more durable than many all-foam mattresses.
Off-Gassing
We did notice some off-gassing when we first received the Casper Hybrid. This should dissipate within a few days.
Noise
Even though the Casper Hybrid includes coils in its construction, this doesn’t seem to be a noisy mattress. We didn’t observe any notable noise.
Sex
When people seek out a mattress for sex, they’re usually concerned about whether they’ll feel stuck in the mattress. Based on that consideration, the Casper Hybrid should be a good fit for sex. The coils and foams are responsive, and it’s easy to move around on top of the mattress.
