How Firm Is The Beautyrest Harmony Lux?
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux has a firmness of about 7/10, just firmer-than-average. Remember this is the Carbon series model with a pillow top and medium firmness. The pillow top is quite plush, but the layers beneath that get progressively firmer. As we will discuss below, the mattress exhibits a great balance of comfort and support.

Sleeping On The Beautyrest Harmony Lux
Back sleeping on the Harmony Lux mattress is extremely comfortable – the pillow top lets our hips sink in, and provides a good deal of contouring. Also, the supportive coils hold up our bodies and give us the right spinal support.
Side sleeping, the Beautyrest Harmony Lux is also a great match and we can feel little pressure around our shoulders and hips. Again, this is the Medium pillow top model, so if you need even more pressure relief, try the Plush pillow top model.
Stomach sleeping, the mattress is too soft for us, and we can feel our hips dipping down into the mattress. We would recommend trying the Harmony Lux model without the pillow top to ensure you get enough support under your hips.
What Does The Beautyrest Harmony Lux Feel Like?
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux has a feeling similar to what you would find in a high-end hotel. You get the bounce of coils and then some of the soft plushness of the pillow top. While there is memory foam in the top layers, the Beautyrest is a more responsive mattress and makes it easy to move around during the night.
Average-Weight Sleepers: 130 lbs–230 lbs
Average-weight back sleepers should get the balance of comfort and support required for back sleeping. If they want more support, they can go without the pillow top.
Side sleeping, the majority of average-weight people should feel little pressure around their shoulders and hips. Again, if they need even more pressure relief, they can opt for the Plush pillow top model.
Stomach sleeping, average-weight people won’t get the proper amount of support. They will want to go with the Harmony Lux model without the pillow top.
Heavyweight Sleepers: Over 230 lbs
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux is a deluxe mattress (no pun intended) and should be a supportive option for many heavy people. However, if you weigh over 300 lbs, you might want to look at our best mattresses for heavy people.
Side sleeping, a good number of heavy people should get the pressure relief they need from the Harmony Lux. If they need more pressure relief, they can go with the Plush model or find a mattress made just for someone their size.

The Beautyrest Harmony Lux features a cover made from recycled plastics. The cover soft and contains Beautyrest’s proprietary InfiniCool Lux technology that, as the name suggests, helps keep the top of the mattress cool.
Comfort Layers
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux with the Medium pillow top contains numerous types of foam in its comfort layer. It features proprietary RightTemp Wave Foam that is designed to help with heat dissipation. Also, the comfort layer contains multiple layers of comfort foam as well as gel memory foam.

Sleeping Hot Or Cold
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress is all about cooling, and we can report it sleeps extremely cool. The top cover is indeed cool to the touch and we can feel the cooling properties of the RightTemp foam. Also, the coils are promoting airflow through the mattress, keeping the Beautyrest from trapping too much heat.
Motion Transfer
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux does not handle motion transfer extremely well. While it does feature memory foam it is, overall, a more responsive mattress. It does not cut down on motion transfer too much so, if you sleep with a partner, you could feel them moving around on their side of the mattress. And vice versa!
Edge Support
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress has excellent edge support, and we feel very secure sitting and lying down near the edge. This is not surprising given that the coils are firmer toward the edge of the mattress, which is meant to fortify the edge. You and your partner should be able to sleep toward the edge of the Harmony Lux without feeling like you are going to roll off!
Durability
The Harmony Lux is a whole lot of mattress and contains multiple layers of high-density foam as well as high-grade coils. Just looking at its materials and construction, we estimate the Beautyrest will last for at least 10 years.
Off-gassing
The Harmony Lux comes delivered in its completely expanded state. Unlike some online mattresses, it will not come compressed in a cardboard box. Because of this, you won’t notice the normal off-gassing you would experience with a standard bed in a box mattress.
Noise
When we roll around on the Beautyrest Harmony Lux mattress, we do not hear any major squeaking or creaking from the coils. We will note that these coils might start to squeak after many years of use.
Sex
The Beautyrest Harmony Lux should be a good mattress for sex because it is bouncy and responsive. This means it should be easy for sexual partners to move around on the mattress.
