Sleeping On The Cocoon Chill Hybrid
We felt great while back sleeping on the Cocoon Chill Hybrid. We experienced a pleasant balance of comfort and spinal support, which is crucial for this sleep position.
While side sleeping on the Cocoon Chill Hybrid, we experienced a bit of pressure around the shoulder and hip. Lighter-weight folks might feel less pressure, but side sleepers who prefer a plusher feel will probably want to look for a dedicated mattress for side sleepers.
In our experience, the Cocoon Chill Hybrid is a bit too soft for stomach sleeping. Our hips sank a touch too far into the mattress and pulled the spine out of alignment.
What Does The Cocoon Chill Hybrid Feel Like?
The Cocoon Chill Hybrid has a layer of very slow-moving memory foam on top. You should sink into this mattress a touch, and it’s not especially responsive. That said, there’s still a bit of bounce from the coils in the support layer.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
Average-weight back sleepers should enjoy a balance of comfort and support on the Cocoon Chill Hybrid. Average-weight side sleepers who prefer a plush mattress will probably find that this bed feels too firm, while side sleepers who are more comfortable on a firmer surface could find this bed to be a good match. The Cocoon Chill Hybrid is almost certainly too soft for average-weight stomach sleepers, who are unlikely to obtain adequate spinal support.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
Heavyweight back sleepers who weigh less than 300 pounds should find the Cocoon Chill Hybrid to be a good match. Folks who weigh more than that will likely want to seek out a mattress for heavy people. Heavyweight side sleepers will almost certainly experience too much pressure around the shoulder and hip, while heavyweight stomach sleepers won’t obtain adequate support on this mattress.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
Lightweight back sleepers should find that the Cocoon Chill Hybrid is a great match, as it offers some pressure relief along with plenty of spinal support. Lightweight side sleepers who are comfortable on a firmer bed might enjoy this mattress, but folks who prefer a plusher feel will want to keep looking. The Cocoon Chill Hybrid could be supportive enough for lightweight stomach sleepers.

The Cocoon Chill Hybrid boasts a cooling cover that is very breathable and features something called Phase Change Material. This absorbs and draws heat away from the body, helping to keep you cool at night.

Support Layers
The primary support layer on the Cocoon Chill Hybrid is made from Active Support Coils, which lend support and a touch of bounce to the mattress overall. These coils are designed to be firmer near the edges of the mattress in order to shore up the bed’s edge support.

Cocoon Chill Hybrid Mattress Performance
If you’ve read this far, then you know a lot about the Cocoon Chill Hybrid’s firmness, feel, and construction. Now, let’s take a look at a few more critical performance indicators. We put the Cocoon Chill Hybrid through a gamut of tests with regard to temperature regulation, edge support, motion transfer, and more. Let’s see how it did!
Sleeping Hot Or Cold
This mattress is designed with cooling in mind. It shouldn’t trap heat thanks to its cooling cover and coils, which allow for plenty of airflow through the mattress. It should be one of the best cooling mattresses out there.
Motion Transfer
The Cocoon Chill Hybrid handles motion transfer pretty well thanks to its slow-moving memory foam comfort layers. The memory foam does a good job of absorbing movement and minimizing disturbances across the surface of the mattress.
Edge Support
Even though the Cocoon Chill Hybrid’s coils are firmer near its edges, we still didn’t find its edge support to be particularly strong. We felt fairly secure while lying down near the edges of this bed, but it collapsed under us when we sat near the edge.
Durability
The Cocoon Chill Hybrid features high-density foams and durable coils, so this should be a long-lasting mattress that won’t sag or break down quickly. Expect this mattress to last for approximately 7 to 10 years.
Off-Gassing
We did observe some initial off-gassing from the Cocoon Chill Hybrid. This should dissipate within 48 hours.
Noise
At the time of this review, we didn’t observe any notable noise from the Cocoon Chill Hybrid. That said, because this mattress incorporates coils, it’s possible the coils could start to squeak a bit as time goes on.
Sex
When people hunt for a mattress for sex, they’re usually looking for a bed that makes it easy to change positions. Because the Cocoon Chill Hybrid has a slow-moving feel, it might not be the best option. Partners won’t have the easiest time moving around on top of this bed.
Company Info
Here are some quick-and-dirty details about what you can expect if you decide to purchase a Cocoon Chill Hybrid from Sealy.
Warranty Info
The Cocoon Chill Hybrid comes with a 10-year limited warranty that covers defective materials and indentations deeper than 1″. The warranty is void if you do not use the correct frame or foundation.
Sleep Trial
The Cocoon Chill Hybrid comes with a 100-night sleep trial, so you can test out this mattress at home to ensure that it’s a good fit.
Return Policy
If the Cocoon Chill Hybrid is not a good fit for you, you can return it for a full refund. The company will pick up the mattress and donate it to a local agency.
How Does The Cocoon Chill Hybrid Compare To Other Mattresses?
If you’re considering the Cocoon Chill Hybrid, then you’ve probably taken a look at other online mattresses as well. It’s a good idea to do some comparison shopping, because this will give you a sense of the many types of mattresses on offer and help you feel confident in your decision. To make things a bit easier for you, we’ve pitted the Cocoon Chill Hybrid against one of its biggest online competitors: the Nectar. Let’s see how these two mattresses stack up!
Cocoon Chill Hybrid Vs Nectar
The Cocoon Chill Hybrid and the Nectar feature slightly different constructions. As its name implies, the Cocoon Chill Hybrid is a hybrid mattress that layers memory foam over coils. Meanwhile, the Nectar is an all-foam mattress that also uses memory foam in its comfort layer.
We ranked these mattresses about the same when it comes to firmness. Both of these mattresses came in around 6.5/10, or average firmness.
Both the Cocoon Chill Hybrid and the Nectar have some of the slow-moving feel of memory foam thanks to their memory foam comfort layers. But the Cocoon Chill Hybrid has a bit more bounciness than the Nectar thanks to its support layer of coils.
These mattresses differ a bit when it comes to price. A Queen-size Cocoon Chill Hybrid costs $1,699 at full price, while the same size Nectar costs a bit less at $1,298.
