Nolah Evolution Hybrid Mattress Video Review
Nolah Evolution Mattress Overview
Nolah mattresses are known for their high-quality cooling features and generous warranties. The company makes several different models, including the Nolah Original and Nolah Signature.
I’m looking specifically at the Nolah Evolution 15″ Hybrid mattress. As Nolah’s most luxurious model, it’s packed with advanced cooling technology and support features. Below, you’ll find a quick snapshot of who this bed-in-a-box may be right for.
Pros of the Nolah Evolution Hybrid
- It’s a great cooling mattress, thank to its airflow-promoting coils and graphite-infused foam.
- It’s made with high-quality materials, so it should last at least a decade.
- It offers excellent lumbar support for back sleepers.
Cons of the Nolah Evolution Hybrod
- Because it’s a luxurious mattress, it’s not the most affordable. If you’re on a tight budget, you may want to consider the original Nolah mattress instead.
- It’s not supportive enough for most stomach sleepers. In this sleeping position, you might feel some lower back pain.
- Fans of firm mattresses will want to look elsewhere. The Nolah Evolution has a classic medium-firm feel.

Nolah Evolution Mattress Firmness and Feel
When reviewing mattresses, I always take a close look at firmness level and feel. Let’s see who might like the Nolah Evolution Hybrid.
How Firm is the Nolah Evolution Hybrid?
The Nolah Evolution Hybrid comes in three different firmness levels: Plush, Luxury Firm and Firm. I reviewed the Luxury Firm model, and it comes in at a 6.5/10 on our firmness scale. This also happens to be the industry standard for medium-firm.
Choose Plush If: | Choose Luxury Firm If: | Choose Firm If: |
You are a lightweight combination sleeper | You are a back or side sleeper | You are a stomach sleeper |
Sleeping On The Nolah Evolution Hybrid
I felt a great balance of comfort and support when I rested on my back. This mattress has zoned support, which means it feels firmer toward the center. This was particularly helpful while back sleeping, because it helped me maintain the proper spinal alignment.
When I slept on my side, I felt the Eurotop comfort layer cushion my shoulders and hips. The Luxury Firm option should work well for most average weight side sleepers (like myself). But if you need more pressure relief, opt for the Plush model.
When I slept on my stomach, I felt my hips sink into the comfort layer quite a bit. Over time, I anticipate this would cause some lower back pain. In general, stomach sleepers require firm mattresses in order to maintain the proper spinal alignment. If this is your preferred sleeping position, you may want to opt for the Firm model.
What Does the Nolah Evolution Feel Like?
When combined with its bouncy eco support coils, the Nolah Evolution’s plush pillow top creates a balanced hybrid feel. It’s easy to move around on, and sleepers shouldn’t feel like they are sinking too far into the mattress. Because of these features, we named it one of the most comfortable mattresses.
Sleeper Weight | Back Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Lightweight (Under 130 lb) | Excellent | Good | Excellent |
Average (130 – 230 lb) | Excellent | Excellent | Fair |
Heavyweight (Over 230 lb) | Fair | Fair | Bad |
Is the Nolah Evolution Hybrid Good For Lightweight People (Under 130 lb)?
- It works well for lightweight back sleepers, thanks to its zoned support system. People in this category should maintain the proper spinal alignment throughout the night.
- Because this mattress feels softer near the head and foot, lightweight side sleepers should feel plenty of pressure relief along their shoulders and hips.
- Lightweight stomach sleepers won’t compress the comfort layer too much, so they should get plenty of hip support while stomach sleeping.
Is the Nolah Evolution Hybrid Good For Average Weight People (130 – 230 lb)?
- It’s an excellent choice for average weight back sleepers. The Luxury Firm model should offer the right amount of comfort and support.
- Average weight side sleepers should feel plenty of cushioning along their shoulders and hips.
- Stomach sleepers who weigh closer to 130 lb should feel plenty of support on the Luxury Firm model, but heavier stomach sleepers should opt for the Firm model.
Is the Nolah Evolution Hybrid Good For Heavyweight People (Over 230 lb)?
- Most heavyweight back sleepers will prefer the Firm model. The Luxury Firm mattress isn’t quite supportive enough for larger people.
- Heavyweight side sleepers may feel some pressure along their shoulders and hips. If you fall in this category, you may want to consider the Titan Plus Luxe mattress instead.
- It doesn’t work well for heavyweight stomach sleepers. People in this category will need more support in order to maintain the proper spinal alignment. Check out our list of the best mattresses for heavy people for some better options.
Nolah Evolution Mattress Construction
Now, let’s dive into the Nolah Evolution’s construction. I’ll peel back the covers and check out all of its unique features.
Cover
The Nolah Hybrid’s 2” ArcticTex cover is quilted with Eurotop fibers, which are designed to feel cool to the touch and dissipate heat.
Comfort Layers
Beneath the cover, you’ll find a 2” layer of cooling Nolah AirFoamICE. This comfort layer is infused with graphite to promote cooling and offer additional pressure relief. Underneath this sits a 2” layer of Deep and Supportive High-Resilience Foam, which offers even more lumbar support. The final comfort layers consists of high-density transition foam.
An AirBreath heat escape gusset surrounds the top three layers for extra cooling and comfort.
Support Layer
In the base layer, the Nolah Evolution has HDMax™ Eco Support Coils and an Edge Support System. The 8” coils are surrounded by Nolah’s patented Edge-Tech support foam and are zoned to provide extra firmness toward the center.
Mattress Height
The Nolah Evolution Hybrid is 15” tall, and it’s designed to handle more weight than traditional memory foam mattresses.

Nolah Evolution Mattress Performance
How well does the Nolah Evolution perform? I’ll investigate its cooling features, motion transfer, edge support and durability.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
The Nolah Evolution’s advanced cooling features help dissipate heat. In addition to the ArcticTex cooling cover, it has a supportive coil system that promotes airflow. The foam layers are infused with graphite, which also aids in cooling. To make things even cooler, the Nolah Evolution has an AirBreath heat escape gusset around the top three layers. It really is one of the best cooling mattresses.
Motion Transfer
If you sleep with a partner, you may want to take motion transfer into consideration. If a mattress doesn’t isolate movement well, you could potentially wake up in the middle of the night when your partner shifts sleeping positions.
I found the Nolah Evolution has great motion isolation. The soft foam on top absorbs movement, so you aren’t likely to feel the mattress moving too much.
Edge Support
Overall, the Nolah Evolution has decent edge support. When I sat on the side of the mattress, I didn’t feel like I would roll off and the floor.
Durability
Because it’s made with high-density innersprings and foam, the Nolah Evolution mattress should last more than 10 years.
Off-Gassing
When opening a new mattress, it’s common to notice a slight chemical smell. We call this off-gassing, and it was prevalent in the Nolah Evolution Hybrid. After about two days, however, the smell completely faded.
Noise
I did not notice any noise when testing the Nolah Evolution Hybrid. It’s possible the innersprings could creak over time, but I generally think this will be a quiet mattress.
Sex
When getting intimate, many couples want a mattress that has good responsiveness and bounce. If this is top of mind, the Nolah Evolution is a great pick. Its comfortable top layers won’t make you feel stuck inside, and the innersprings create a nice bounce.
Company Policies
Before buying a new mattress, it’s always a good idea to thoroughly read the company’s policies. Below, I’ve outlined the Nolah Evolution’s warranty information, sleep trial period and return policy.
Warranty Info
The Nolah Evolution is backed by a lifetime warranty.
Sleep Trial
Nolah has a 120-night trial period, so customers have several months to determine whether it’s the right bed for them.
Return Policy
Nolah asks its customers to try out their bed for 30 days before returning because it often takes a few weeks for people to break in a new mattress. After that, customers can return the mattress for a full refund–as long as it’s still during the 120-night sleep trial period.
Common Nolah Evolution Mattress Complaints
When shopping for any new mattress, it’s common to come across a few negative reviews. Many customer complaints have to do with the bed’s firmness level. Because it’s slightly softer than average, it’s not a good fit for stomach sleepers. If this is your preferred sleeping position, you may have more success with one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
How Does The Nolah Evolution Compare To Other Mattresses?
It’s always a good idea to see how brands stack up against their competitors. Let’s take a look at how the Nolah Evolution compares with other popular options.

While they’re both made by Nolah, the two mattresses have many differences. The Nolah Signature is an all-foam mattress that has a slow-moving feel. The Evolution, on the other hand, is a hybrid mattress made with coils and cooling foam. It’s available in three firmness levels, so it works well for a variety of people.
The Evolution has a plush hybrid feel, while the Signature has a balanced foam feel. Fans of a bouncier mattress will want to choose the Evolution. When it comes to pricing, the Signature is more affordable.

Both the Evolution and Leesa Legend are hybrid mattresses, but they are made with different materials. The Leesa Legend features a unique design made with two sets of coils–one layer on the bottom and another set of micro coils directly above it. Then, there are memory foam layers for added contouring and pressure relief. This gives the Leesa Legend a balanced hybrid feel.
The Evolution has a more traditional hybrid construction, with innersprings on the bottom and foam layers on top. The Leesa Legend is slightly softer than the Nolah Evolution, so it’s great for people who need additional pressure relief.
Both mattresses are high-end and luxurious, so they cost more than some of their more basic counterparts. The two brands often have promotions and deals, so it’s easy to save some money on one of their new mattresses.

FAQs
How long will the Nolah Evolution mattress last?
Thanks to its high-quality materials, the Nolah Evolution is very durable. I expect it to last at least 10 years.
Can you flip the Nolah Evolution mattress?
No, the Nolah Evolution isn’t flippable. It is designed with support coils on the bottom and pressure-relieving foam on top. Flipping it would result in an undesirable firmness and feel.
What if I don’t like my Nolah Evolution mattress?
The Nolah Evolution is a great mattress, but it’s not the right pick for everyone. If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase after the first 30 days, you can return it for a full refund–as long as it’s still during the initial 120-night trial period.
