PandaZzz Mattress Firmness and Feel
Because PandaZzz does offer online ordering, it’s important to know how this mattress will feel before making a purchase. Let’s talk about how firm the PandaZzz Mattress is and how it feels.
How Firm is the PandaZzz Mattress?
When talking about how firm a mattress is, here at Mattress Clarity we score mattresses on a scale from 1 to 10. For the PandaZzz Mattress, we’d give it a 7/10. For reference, a 6.5/10 is the industry standard for a medium-firm mattress, making the PandaZzz Mattress slightly above medium-firm.
Though this is an all-foam mattress, most of the construction is a high-density base layer, which explains why this might be a firmer foam mattress than most.
However, it’s important to note that your weight and height will play into how firm or soft a mattress feels. Heavier sleepers may find the PandaZzz Mattress to be a bit softer.
Sleeping On The PandaZzz Mattress
In our experience, the PandaZzz felt great while sleeping on our backs. Since this is an all-foam mattress, it feels slow-moving. You’ll gently sink into the top of this mattress.
Side sleepers should also feel a decent amount of pressure point relief, especially along the shoulders and hips. If you’re a heavier side sleeper, you may compress the layers even more and feel more of the firm base layer underneath.
This could be a decent pick for lighter stomach sleepers. While it’s not the firmest mattress out there, since it is a rather firm foam mattress, your hips should stay elevated for correct spinal alignment. However, heavier stomach sleepers will compress the layers and feel their hips sink. So, overall, we wouldn’t call this the best mattress for stomach sleepers.
What Does the PandaZzz Feel Like?
As an all-foam mattress, the PandaZzz mattress features that classic, slow-moving memory foam feel. You’re really going to sink into that top layer, and you might feel like you’re sleeping in the mattress as opposed to on top of it.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
Average weight back sleepers should feel supported on the PandaZzz Mattress. With a top layer that conforms to your body, and a high-density base layer, back sleepers will get the lumbar support they need.
If you’re a side sleeper, however, this could be one to keep in mind. We felt decent pressure relief in our hips and shoulders, and the foam layers should keep your spinal alignment where it needs to be.
Stomach sleepers are a different story. While firm mattresses are recommended for stomach sleeping, the PandaZzz Mattress is only slightly firmer than the industry standard. You may feel the support you need if you weigh closer to 130lbs, but heavier people should look elsewhere.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
The PandaZzz Mattress should be a decent pick for heavier back sleepers. You’ll be able to compress the foam layers enough to feel the pressure relief along your back while still getting the lumbar support you need.
Side sleepers, however, may not get the support they need on the PandaZzz Mattress. Since you’ll compress the layers a bit more than average weight sleepers, you could feel a bit more pressure along your shoulders.
If you’re a heavier stomach sleeper, your hips will likely sink in too far, which could cause back pain later down the line. So, we really would not recommend this for heavy stomach sleepers.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
On the lighter end of the spectrum, lightweight stomach sleepers could get the firmness they need out of the PandaZzz Mattress. In general, the PandaZzz Mattress works well for side sleepers. Lightweight sleepers may not compress the layers as much, but they should feel pressure relief along their shoulders and hips.
As for back sleeping on the PandaZzz Mattress, again, lightweight sleepers should feel good lumbar support.
PandaZzz Mattress Construction
Now that we know how this mattress feels and how people should sleep on it, let’s take a look at the PandaZzz Mattress’s construction. One thing to note, the PandaZzz Mattress has received CertiPUR-US® and Oeko-Tex® certifications, meaning this mattress is made with materials that are toxin-free and sustainably sourced.
Cover
The PandaZzz mattress cover is designed for cooling. The double-knit jacquard cover is soft and has a luxurious feel to it. It should be quite breathable, and it’s designed for temperature regulation. If a clean cover is a concern, then it’s worth pointing out that the cover is washable as well.
Comfort Layer
Right underneath the cover is a layer of cooling gel memory foam. Because this is a foam top layer, it should provide good cushioning and body contouring. This gel foam layer should pull heat away from your body. Plus, the AirCell structure–which just means if you pull back the cover, you should see open cell air holes–should promote good airflow.
Support Layer
Underneath the comfort layer is the high-density, polyurethane foam layer. This is the layer that helps give the PandaZzz Mattress its firmness and will make anyone sleeping on this feel quite supported.
At the very bottom of this mattress is an anti-slip cover. Along this cover are tiny silicone grips that should help keep your mattress in place.
Mattress Height
For this review, we tested the PandaZzz 8” model. However, PandaZzz does offer a 12” model as well.

PandaZzz Mattress Performance
Now that we know what the PandaZzz Mattress has to offer, let’s see how it does in practice.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
PandaZzz is a company all about incorporating modern cooling innovations into their mattresses. The PandaZzz Mattress should be in the top picks for hot sleepers. With a breathable cover and a cooling gel layer, body heat shouldn’t be an issue on this cool sleeping surface.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer is a big consideration if you’re sleeping with a partner. The question always is: will you feel your partner change positions or get in and out of bed? Well, the PandaZzz Mattress, since it’s an all-foam bed, should isolate motion well.
Edge Support
While the PandaZzz Mattress features a sizable support layer, in our experience, the edge support wasn’t the best. You might find yourself sagging on the ends of the mattress. The good news is, we’ve compiled a list of mattresses that won’t sag!
Durability
The PandaZzz is made of high-quality, durable materials. Because of this, we should expect this mattress to last between 7 and 10 years.
Off-Gassing
The PandaZzz mattress does come in a box. Typically, this means that there could be a chemical smell to it while it expands. But these smells should fade away after 24-48 hours.
Noise
The PandaZzz is an all-foam mattress, so it should stay fairly silent.
Sex
Couples looking for the best mattress for sex typically want something that is bouncy and easy to move around in. Because of this, the PandaZzz Mattress could pose some problems for sex. It’s made up of slow-moving memory foam, so changing positions or moving around on bed could be difficult.
Company Policies
It’s good to know what a company has to offer when making big purchases. Let’s see what company policies PandaZzz offers for their mattress.
Warranty Info
The PandaZzz Mattress comes with a 12-year warranty.
Sleep Trial
If you’re weary of ordering a mattress online, without having tested it in person, don’t fret. PandaZzz offers a 100-night trial to test out your mattress.
Return Policy
If, during your trial period, you find that the PandaZzz mattress isn’t for you, then you can send it back for free. It’s important to note however, that it takes typically 30 days to break in a new mattress.
How Does the PandaZzz Compare to Other Mattresses?
When shopping around for a new mattress, it’s always a good idea to compare a variety of mattresses. So, let’s see how the PandaZzz stacks up.
The PandaZzz Mattress vs Tuft & Needle
Foam mattress seekers who are on a bit of a budget might also be looking at the Tuft & Needle Original Mattress. Both mattresses are similar in construction, but what’s the difference between them?
Both the PandaZzz and the Tuft & Needle are made up of two main foam layers, a comfort layer and a support layer. However, the PandaZzz Mattress is a bit firmer than the Tuft & Needle, coming in at a 7/10 on our firmness scale, where the Tuft & Needle is a 6.5/10. If you want an average medium-firm mattress, then the Tuft & Needle could be more your speed.
Heavier back sleepers may find more comfort in the PandaZzz over the Tuft & Needle, however. Across the board, the Tuft & Needle isn’t the best mattress for heavy people. And with the PandaZzz being a bit firmer, heavier sleepers might find the support that the Tuft & Needle is lacking.
The Tuft & Needle is a good, affordable option, but it does have a bit of a customization feature in the antimicrobial protection add-on. But overall, PandaZzz’s prices for all sizes is the more affordable option here.
And finally, the Tuft & Needle is an all-foam mattress that has some cooling features, but it doesn’t have the cooling innovations that the PandaZzz Mattress has. In our experience, we didn’t feel hot on the Tuft & Needle, but we weren’t exactly cool, either. The PandaZzz could be the better option for hot sleepers.

PandaZzz Mattress vs Allswell
If you’re between an all-foam mattress and a hybrid mattress with springs, then the Allswell is a good comparison for the PandaZzz. Both are around the same price, but the differences are in their construction. Let’s see what they’re all about.
As mentioned, the PandaZzz is an all-foam mattress with two layers of foam. The Allswell, a bed-in-a-box by Walmart, is a hybrid mattress composed of a foam comfort layer, but the support layer is full of individually wrapped coils. With the presence of coils, the Allswell feels more responsive and bouncy.
Regardless of weight, the Allswell does not provide the best pressure relief for side sleepers. So, if you’re someone who prefers side sleeping, then the PandaZzz mattress is the way to go.
Thanks to Allswell’s individually wrapped coils, however, stomach sleepers might find the support they need. This is also because the Allswell is half a point firmer than the PandaZzz. We’ve rated the Allswell at a 7.5/10, where the PandaZzz is a 7/10.
