Sleeping On The Endy And Silk & Snow
Starting off with the Endy, our reviewer, Joe, thought the mattress was a good fit for back sleeping. His hips sank into the top layer of Endy foam, while the transition layer and base layer supported his body. This is not surprising, as medium-firm mattresses usually work well for back sleepers.
When he slept on his side, our reviewer experienced nice relief on his pressure points. The Endy was soft enough to relieve any build-up of pressure around his shoulders and hips. As we’ll discuss below, larger sleepers might have a different experience on the Endy.
While our reviewer enjoyed a good bit of support while stomach sleeping, he thought it still might not be the best fit for strict stomach sleepers. The Endy is only medium-firm and, if you want the extra support that stomach sleeping requires, consider a firm mattress or one of our best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
Our other reviewer, Elisa, tried out the Silk & Snow in all three sleeping positions. First off, she thought the Silk & Snow gave her a good balance of comfort and support. Like the Endy, the Silk & Snow is medium-firm and a good option for back sleepers.
She also liked the pressure relief the Silk & Snow had to offer. She pressed into the mattress a bit, but she did not bottom out. She felt the majority of the pressure on her shoulders and hips melt away.
However, she did not like the Silk & Snow for stomach sleeping. She could feel her hips bowing down into the mattress, and this caused some pain in her lower back. Again, consider a firmer mattress if you are a stomach sleeper or struggle with back pain.
What Do The Endy And Silk & Snow Feel Like?
The Endy mattress features proprietary Endy foam that is more responsive than standard memory foam. This gives the top of the mattress a bouncy feel. The mattress lets you sink in a fair bit, but you should have no trouble moving around.
The Silk & Snow exhibits more of a classic memory foam feel. With high-density memory foam right on top, the Silk & Snow lets you sink in slowly and hugs your curves as well. It is not so easy to move around on the Silk & Snow, but you won’t feel stuck in this mattress.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Average weight back sleepers should enjoy the Endy and Silk & Snow mattresses. Both will offer good contouring and their base layers should be able to support people in this weight range.
Side sleepers who are at the lower end of this weight range should get the right amount of pressure relief on the Endy and Silk & Snow. However, those who are closer to 230 lb might bottom out and hit the support layers beneath. This could cause some serious pressure issues around the shoulders and hips.
Similarly, stomach sleepers who weigh closer to 130 lb could feel properly supported on both these mattresses. If you weigh over 200 lb and sleep just on your stomach mattress, a firmer mattress will be in order.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
Neither of these mattresses are made with larger people in mind. Heavy people usually require a mattress with coils. Coils are more supportive than base foam and handle more weight. Comfort Layers
The Endy’s top layer contains the brand’s proprietary Endy foam. This material is designed to be bouncier than memory foam. It is also open-celled, meaning it is breathable and won’t trap heat as much as some memory foam. Below that, there is a foam transition layer that keeps you from sinking too far into the mattress.
