When I’m out to eat, the words “made to order” are music to my ears. However, as a mattress reviewer, I can honestly say I’ve never heard of a made to order mattress! But, that’s what you get with the Lytton Signature mattress. When you buy a Lytton Signature, the brand will make your mattress from scratch and then ship it to you.
With Lytton Sleep, you have two mattresses to choose from, the Lytton Signature Comfort Plush and the Lytton Signature Comfort Firm. As the names suggest, the Comfort Plush is their softer model, and the Comfort Firm is their firmer model. For this review, I slept on and tested the Lytton Signature Comfort Plush mattress.

Let’s start off by looking at the firmness and feel of this Lytton Sleep mattress. This will give you a good initial idea of whether or not the mattress will work for you.
How Firm Is The Lytton Signature Mattress?
On a firmness scale of 1-10, the Lytton Signature Comfort Plush scored a 6.5/10, which is the industry standard for medium-firm. The top layers were very plush but, as I pressed into the mattress, I felt some more firmness.
Also, the mattress is zoned, so it feels firmer toward the center of the mattress. Because of this, it may feel firmer or softer, depending on your sleep position.
Sleeping On The Lytton Signature Mattress
Back sleeping on the Lytton Signature, the mattress offered the perfect balance of comfort and support. Lying down, my hips sank into the plush top layer, and I felt the zoning under my lumbar area. This all helped keep my spine in perfect neutral alignment.
Side sleeping, I experienced excellent pressure relief on my shoulders and hips. Again, the top layer is very plush, so I felt little to no buildup around my pressure points. Also, I felt the firm center zone pressing up into the gap between my ribs and hips.
When I moved onto my stomach, the Lytton Signature was not supportive enough for me. Stomach sleepers should take a look at the Comfort Firm model to get better support.
What Does The Lytton Signature Feel Like
The Lytton Sleep exhibited a bouncy feel that made it very easy to move around on. The top layer offered a bit of a slow-moving memory foam feel but, overall, it was a more responsive mattress.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Average weight back sleepers should also like the Lytton Signature Comfort Plush mattress. The zoning will help keep their spines neutrally-aligned, while the plush foams offer just the right amount of comfort.
Side sleepers in this weight range should also feel nice pressure relief on the Lytton Signature. They won’t sink in too far and should mostly feel the comfort of the top layers.
Stomach sleepers who weigh closer to 130 lb could also get enough support on the Comfort Plush. If you weigh much more than this, consider the Comfort Firm.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
Heavyweight back sleepers and sleepers who weigh closer to 230 lb should get what they need on the Lytton Signature Comfort Plush mattress. Those who weigh much more should take a look at one of our best mattresses for heavy people. Heavyweight stomach sleepers should also find a firmer, more supportive mattress.

I tested the Lytton Signature mattress to see how it performed with cooling, motion transfer, and other criteria. Let’s see how it did.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
The Lytton Signature is a cooler-sleeping hybrid mattress. The coils promote airflow through the bottom part of the mattress. The organic cotton cover is breathable, allowing some air to move through the top of the mattress. Add in some open-celled foams and gel infusions, and you shouldn’t be sleeping hot on the Lytton Sleep.
Motion Transfer
If you want a mattress for couples, make sure to keep motion transfer in mind. This occurs when your partner rolls around on their side of the mattress, and you feel it on your side.
Soft foam is usually effective at isolating that motion, so I was surprised how well the Lytton Signature performed. The top foam layers absorb and cut down on this motion transfer so that you and your partner won’t disturb each other at night.
Edge Support
Couples should also think about edge support when shopping for a new mattress. A mattress with good edge support will let you and your partner sleep toward the very edge.
Lying down and sitting down on the Lytton, I did not feel the mattress collapse too much. I felt secure near the edge and did not feel like I was going to roll off while lying down.
Durability
The Lytton Sleep is a handmade mattress featuring coils and multiple layers of high-density foam. Based on its construction, it is a durable mattress and should last for at least seven years, if not more.
Off-gassing
The Lytton Sleep is a bed-in-a-box mattress, and I did notice some off-gassing when I took it out of the box. This chemical smell is normal with online mattresses and, after I left the mattress in a well-ventilated room for 48 hours, the smell was completely gone.
Noise
The Lytton Signature mattress made no noise when I rolled around on top and changed positions. Even though it features coils, I heard no squeaking coming from the bottom part of the mattress.
Just note that you might start to hear some squeaking after you’ve slept on the mattress for a number of years.
Sex
If you want a mattress for sex, the bouncier the better. The Lytton Sleep is quite responsive, and it should make it easy for you and your partner to change positions and move around.
