DreamCloud Mattresses Overview

The DreamCloud line consists of the DreamCloud, DreamCloud Premier, and DreamCloud Premier Rest. They are all hybrid mattresses and boast some high-quality materials such as cashmere pillow tops.

However, they do differ with regard to their material, design, and price point. This will make them a better fit for different types of sleepers.

Similarities and Differences Between The DreamCloud Mattresses

Let’s talk about the major similarities and differences between these three beds.

SimilaritiesDifferences
They all come from the same company, so they have the same sleep trials and warranties.  They all have different price points.
The DreamClouds are all hybrid mattresses. The DreamCloud Premier Rest is taller than the other two models.
They are responsive and make it easy to change positions. They vary in terms of firmness.
The DreamCloud mattresses are breathable and cooling. They feature slightly different materials.

Firmness and Feel Differences

Now, I’d like to discuss the firmness and feel of these mattresses and how they work for different sleeping positions.

How Firm Are The DreamCloud Mattresses

The DreamCloud mattresses feature some different materials in their top layers, which makes them differ in terms of firmness.

The DreamCloud is the firmest of the bunch, and scores close to 7.5/10, which is firmer than average. The DreamCloud is a bit softer and comes in at 6.5/10, which is exactly medium-firm. The DreamCloud features more comfort layers than the other two and feels like a 6/10. This is slightly softer than average.

Sleeping On The DreamCloud Mattresses

I slept on all three mattresses and, because of their firmness differences, I had a different experience on each.

DreamCloud

Back sleeping on the DreamCloud was a good match for me. The pillow top cushioned my hips, and the coils supported my body.

While I was side sleeping on the DreamCloud, the mattress felt  too firm. Side sleepers usually need something softer to relieve pressure on their shoulders and hips, and the DreamCloud was not soft enough. I felt some pressure build-up around my pressure points, and it was quite uncomfortable.

A man sleeps on his side on the DreamCloud

When I slept on my stomach on the DreamCloud, it wasn’t firm enough. My hips dipped forward into the mattress, and I felt some strain in my lower back. However, I weigh 270 lb, and lighter people might have a different experience on the DreamCloud.

DreamCloud Premier

When I slept on my back on the DreamCloud Premier, it was even more comfortable than the DreamCloud. It is closer to medium-firm, and I felt a better balance of comfort and support. The plush pillow top offered even more contouring than what I felt on the DreamCloud.

I also felt better pressure relief while side sleeping on the DreamCloud Premier. The plush pillow top relieved pressure around my shoulders and hips, and I felt comfortable overall.

However, stomach sleeping, the mattress was not supportive enough for me. I did not get enough support under my hips, and I felt them sinking down into the mattress. The DreamCloud original was a better fit for stomach sleeping in my experience.

DreamCloud Premier Rest

I also enjoyed sleeping on my back on the DreamCloud Premier Rest. While it is the softest of the three mattresses, it still offered a balance of comfort and support. That being said, I still preferred the DreamCloud Premier for back sleeping.

Given that the DreamCloud Premier Rest is the softest of the three mattresses, it was also the best match for side sleeping. I felt almost no pressure on my shoulders and hips when I laid on my side.

A man side sleeps on the DreamCloud Premier Rest

It’s no surprise that the DreamCloud Premier Rest was not a great match for stomach sleeping. It is softer than the other two models, so I felt even less supported on the Premier Rest.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb

Back sleepers in this weight range should feel comfortable on all three mattresses. However, if you are average weight and just sleep on your back, the DreamCloud Premier and its medium firmness will still be the best bet.

Average weight side sleepers will prefer the DreamCloud Premier and DreamCloud Premier Rest mattresses. These plusher mattresses will offer better pressure relief than the base DreamCloud mattress.

The DreamCloud will be the best bet for stomach sleepers in this weight range. If you weigh less than 230 lb, you should get the support you need on this mattress. The DreamCloud Premier might be supportive enough for people closer to 130 lb.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb

Heavyweight back sleepers who weigh less than 300 lb should prefer sleeping on the DreamCloud Premier mattress. They will experience a balance of comfort and support, but those who weigh more should find a mattress for heavy people

Heavier side sleepers who weigh less than 300 lb should check out the DreamCloud Premier Rest, as this will offer the best pressure relief. If you weigh more, you may need a mattress made for your size.

Heavy stomach sleepers won’t get enough support on any of the DreamCloud mattresses. They will need something much firmer and much more supportive.

Lightweight Back Sleepers – Under 130 lb

Lightweight sleepers of all types should like sleeping on the DreamCloud mattresses. They should get the support and comfort they need for back, side, and stomach sleeping.

DreamCloud Mattress Performance Differences

I tested all three mattresses to see how they performed with cooling, motion transfer, and a lot more.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

The DreamCloud mattresses are all hybrids, so they feature coils in their support layers. The coils allow for a good bit of airflow, so none of the DreamClouds should trap too much heat in their bottom layers. Their cashmere covers are also breathable and keep the top layers from feeling too hot.

Because of these design features, the DreamCloud mattresses shouldn’t make you sleep too hot at night. See our best cooling mattresses for some more options for hot sleepers.

Motion Transfer

Motion transfer is something couples should think about when they are shopping for a new mattress. When your partner rolls around and changes positions at night, will that motion transfer to your side of the mattress and disturb you? Or, will your mattress isolate each partner’s movements to their side of the bed.

While I did see some motion transfer in my initial tests, overall, the DreamCloud mattresses performed well. I lay down on one side of each mattress and asked someone to roll around on the other side. Their movements did not disturb me on my side of the mattress. See our best mattresses for couples for more options.

Edge Support

Edge support is another factor that couples should keep in mind. A mattress with good edge support will let both partners sleep toward the edge without rolling off.

Unfortunately, the DreamCloud mattresses don’t feature the best edge support. They collapsed under my weight when I sat near the edge. However, while lying down near the edge, I didn’t feel like I would roll off.

Durability

The DreamCloud mattresses all feature high-density foam and high-grade coils. They should be equal in terms of durability and should last for at least seven years. The DreamCloud Premier Rest may last a bit longer as it is a thicker, more luxury mattress.

Off-gassing

If you’ve ever unboxed a new online mattress, you’ve probably noticed a chemical smell. This is known as off-gassing, and it is normal with bed-in-a-box mattresses.

I experienced some off-gassing when I unboxed the DreamCloud mattresses, but the smell did not last for long. I left the mattresses in well-ventilated rooms for a few days, and the smell quickly dissipated.

Noise

The DreamCloud mattresses made no real noise when I rolled around and changed positions. You shouldn’t hear your partner moving around on their side of the bed.

That being said, hybrid mattresses do start to squeak and creak after you sleep on them for a number of years. Keep this in mind as your DreamCloud mattress reaches the seven year mark.

Sex

If you want a good mattress for sex, you want to find something bouncy and responsive. This will allow for you and your partner to move around with ease.

The DreamCloud mattresses are all bouncy, so you should have no trouble changing positions.
