Similarities Between The Nectar And Casper?
Before we get into all of the little details, let’s take a broad look at the similarities between each of these mattresses.
- They both have coils for support and foam for comfort.
- They’re both bed-in-a-box mattresses.
- Both mattresses have cooling elements that are helpful for hot sleepers.
Key Differences Between The Nectar And Casper?
Now, for the interesting part: The differences between Nectar and Casper.
- The Casper has zoned support, meaning it feels firmer toward the center of the mattress.
- The Casper Hybrid feels more responsive than the Nectar Hybrid.
- The Nectar has better motion isolation and edge support.
- The Casper mattress feels slightly firmer than the Nectar.
- The Nectar mattress has a lower price point than the Casper.
Firmness and Feel Differences
Mattress Clarity uses a firmness scale that ranges from 1-10, with 6.5/10 representing the industry standard of medium-firm. Nectar happens to fit right within this classic firmness level. The Casper mattress feels a bit firmer, coming in at 7/10 on our firmness scale.
Sleeping On the Nectar and Casper Mattresses
All in all, the Nectar Hybrid mattress works well for back and side sleepers. This bed doesn’t provide enough support for stomach sleepers, though. Folks who rest on their stomachs need particularly firm mattresses in order to keep their spines in the correct alignment.
Thanks to the Casper’s zoned support, this mattress works well for most back, side, and stomach sleepers. The middle section feels firmer than the rest of the mattress, which helps sleepers maintain the proper spine alignment.
What Do The Nectar And Casper Mattresses Feel Like?
Even though it has coils for support, the Nectar Classic Hybrid strikes a balance between slow-moving and responsive. You’ll notice the plush comfort foam as soon as you rest on top of this mattress, but the coils will prevent you from feeling “stuck” inside the bed.
The Casper Hybrid mattress feels more responsive than the Nectar Hybrid. The Casper’s proprietary AirScape Foam immediately snaps back into place after pressure is applied, and the springy coils make it easy for sleepers to move around on top of the bed.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Most average weight back and side sleepers should think the Nectar is a good match. The mattress has a thick layer of gel foam on top, which contours the body and helps alleviate pain along pressure points. We don’t recommend the Nectar Classic Hybrid for average weight stomach sleepers, though. This mattress isn’t quite supportive enough for these sleepers — it could cause them to develop lower back pain.
The Casper Hybrid mattress works well for average weight combination sleepers – yes, that includes stomach sleepers! Because this mattress feels firmer in the center, it helps prevent stomach sleepers’ hips from sinking out of alignment. Average weight back and side sleepers should also get the comfort and support they need.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
If you’re a back or side sleeper who weighs between 230 and 300 lb, the Nectar Classic Hybrid could work well for you. Those who weigh more than 300 lb, however, should look for a mattress made specifically for heavy people. We also don’t recommend the Nectar Classic mattress for heavyweight stomach sleepers because their hips will sink into the comfort layer and get out of alignment.
The Casper Hybrid could work well for back sleepers who weigh closer to 230 lb, but heavier folks will likely need a bit more support. We also don’t recommend the Casper Hybrid for heavier side or stomach sleepers. Heavyweight side sleepers might need to add a mattress topper for extra pressure relief, and larger stomach sleepers won’t get the hip support they need.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb
Both mattresses should work well for lightweight sleepers – no matter the sleeping position. Smaller people won’t compress the top layers of each mattress too much, so they should feel a great balance of comfort and support whether they’re resting on their back, side, or stomach.
Mattress Construction Differences
Though they may look similar at first glance, the Nectar and Casper Hybrid mattresses feature many different materials. Let’s look at each bed’s construction to get the full picture.
Cover
The Nectar Hybrid’s quilted, cooling cover has antimicrobial protection.
The Casper mattress has a soft and breathable cover that’s made from recycled bottles.
Comfort Layers
The Nectar Classic Hybrid mattress has two comfort layers. The first one, made with slow-moving gel memory foam, helps dissipate body heat and promote airflow. Beneath that, you’ll find a layer of Nectar’s proprietary Dynamic Response Foam. Made out of polyfoam, this responsive material acts as a transition layer that helps prevent sleepers from “bottoming out.”
The Casper Hybrid also has two comfort layers. The first one features Casper’s responsive AirScape Foam. Unlike traditional memory foam, this material has tiny holes throughout it, which makes it feel breathable and cool. Underneath that, you’ll find Casper’s zoned support system. This section, made out of memory foam, feels firmer toward the center and softer near the head and the foot. This helps many sleepers maintain the correct spinal alignment in all three sleeping positions.
Support Layer
The Nectar Classic mattress’s support layer consists of individually-wrapped coils. Underneath that, you’ll find a thin layer of supportive base foam.
The Casper mattress has a layer of pocketed coils at the bottom, which makes the bed feel springy and responsive.
Mattress Height
The Nectar Classic hybrid mattress is 12” tall.
The Casper Hybrid mattress is 11” tall.

Nectar And Casper Performance Differences
We’re not done yet! It’s also important to examine cooling features, motion transfer, edge support, and durability.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Both mattresses have features that help dissipate heat, but the Casper has a slight advantage thanks to the proprietary AirScape Foam. This material feels responsive, which means sleepers won’t sink into the top layer and trap body heat. Plus, the AirScape Foam is ventilated for extra airflow.
Motion Transfer
If you share a bed with a loved one, you’ll also want to pay attention to your bed’s motion transfer. If your mattress doesn’t isolate motion well, you could wake up when your partner moves around during the night.
Most of the time, hybrid beds don’t perform well in this category because the coils make movements particularly noticeable. However, the Nectar Hybrid is an exception to the rule. The Nectar’s gel-infused memory foam helps absorb movements, so you shouldn’t wake up if your partner starts tossing and turning at night.
Edge Support
Edge support is another important aspect to consider. If you sit or rest near the side of the bed, will you feel secure? Or will you feel like you might roll off?
The Casper mattress has decent edge support, but the Nectar Hybrid feels slightly stronger and more supportive. We don’t expect sleepers to feel unstable when they sit near the side of each mattress, but we have to give the win to Nectar.
Durability
Most mattresses last about seven years, but because both of these beds contain high-quality materials, we expect them to exceed the typical lifespan and last between 7 and 10 years.
Off-Gassing
When you unbox a new online mattress, it’s common to notice a slight chemical smell. It comes from the mattress’s foams releasing gasses that were trapped during compression. We call this “off-gassing,” and it’s nothing to worry about. Yes, both mattresses emitted a slight odor at first, but the smell completely faded away after 48 hours.
Noise
Both mattresses have coils for support, but even so, we didn’t hear any squeaking sounds when we tested them.
Sex
Sexual partners typically want mattresses that feel bouncy and responsive so that it’s easy to move around. If this is important to you, opt for the Casper Hybrid. This bed feels more responsive than the Nectar, making it easier for people to get intimate.
