Sheet aficionados know that linen sheets have a bit of texture to them. But in all the linen sheets I’ve tested, the Baloo linen sheet set ranks as some of the most comfortable I’ve tested because of how smooth they are.
In my unbiased Baloo linen sheets review, I’ll go over everything you need to know about these sheets from how they feel, my testing experience with them, price and much more.

Baloo is a bedding company that is all about creating chemical-free, vegan products. I’ve reviewed the Baloo weighted blanket in the past, but this bedding brand also has weighted comforters and a linen sheet set.

What Do the Baloo Linen Sheets Feel Like?
The Baloo linen sheets have more texture than bamboo and cotton sheets, but in comparison to some other linen sheets I’ve tested, they are considerably more smooth.

I’ll be honest I’m not the biggest fan of the texture that linen sheets have. However, I was really impressed with how soft and smooth the Baloo linen sheets felt.
While I still don’t think I’ll make the change to linen sheets after this round of testing, I probably would consider the Baloo linen sheets pretty high up there in my ranking. I tend to toss and turn during the night, and I think the texture to these sheets actually helped make it easier to move around.
The only things I didn’t particularly like were the linen pillowcases. It just felt too rough and coarse on my cheeks and the side of my face. I’m a side sleeper who typically uses bamboo sheets, which feel completely smooth and almost silky. So this texture change was a complete 180 for me.
I did enjoy, however, that the top sheet felt thick and breathable. I didn’t notice myself overheating while I slept. I typically sleep with a thin blanket on top, but I think if I had that blanket on top, it would have felt just a bit too thick and stuffy.
Baloo Linen Sheets Materials
This Baloo sheet set is made with 100% French linen, which is made from flax stalks. This usually results in thicker threads than bamboo or cotton. Baloo doesn’t list a thread count for its linen sheets, but linen sheets typically have lower thread counts than other materials.

The linen sheets come pre-washed to help make them feel soft, and they will continue to soften as you wash them. The fitted sheet also has pockets that are 16” deep, so they should fit most average height mattresses (8” to 14” tall) with ease and shouldn’t pop up during the night.

Here are a few considerations to keep top of mind before checking out on the Baloo linen sheets.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Linen sheets are great for hot sleepers because they are typically very breathable and moisture-wicking. This means that when you sleep with the Baloo linen sheets, you won’t feel hot and sweaty. During my testing, I never felt like I was in danger of overheating. Every time I changed positions, I actually felt air flow through the sheets.
Care Instructions
You can machine-wash the Baloo linen sheets. Baloo recommends:
- Washing in cool water with a gentle detergent
- Tumble drying on low heat
You can iron the sheets on low heat to remove some extra stubborn wrinkles as you see fit. Do not use bleach.
Allergies
While Baloo does not list its linen sheets as hypoallergenic, linen fabrics are usually a great choice for people with sensitive allergies. It’s not known to trap or attract allergens in your sleep environment, so it won’t trigger any allergies. Plus, these sheets can be machine-washed which should help reduce the amount of allergens that do end up in the sheets.

Set Includes
For this review, I received the queen-size linen sheet set. It included:
- One fitted sheet
- One flat/top sheet
- Two pillow cases
Baloo only offers this set in full, queen and king-sizes. Each set comes with the same pieces, but the king-size set comes with king-size pillowcases.
Baloo only offers this set in four neutral shades: white, dove gray, oatmeal and charcoal.
Return Policy
Baloo offers free shipping on all orders and will offer free shipping for exchanges and returns within the contiguous United States (meaning Hawai’i and Alaska are not included).
If you need to return or exchange your Baloo linen sheets, you’ll have 30 days from the day they were delivered to do so. Baloo mentions that both exchanges and returns will be provided with prepaid shipping labels, but those looking for refunds on returns will have the shipping fee deducted from the refund.
Baloo doesn’t mention a specific warranty, but the brand does offer something called a Lifetime Quality Guarantee. This means that if your sheets were damaged from the manufacturing process. Baloo will offer to repair or replace them depending on the damage. This guarantee does not cover damages from stains, rips or tears.
How Do the Baloo Linen Sheets Compare To Other Sheets?
Many people enjoy the slight texture that linen sheets have, but if you’re not sure if you want to make the switch to linens, I’ve got you covered. Let’s compare the Baloo linens to the Puffy bamboo sheets and the Brooklinen cotton sheets.
Baloo vs Puffy
Personally, I love the Puffy bamboo sheets because of how soft and silky they feel. This feeling is markedly different from the Baloo linens. While still some of the smoothest linens I’ve tested, there’s a bit of a texture to the Baloo sheets. If you’d prefer something completely smooth, go for Puffy. But if you like that texture linen sheets have, go for Baloo.
Both sheets are great for hot sleepers and are fairly durable. However, linen is one of the most durable materials for sheets, so the Baloo linens should last a bit longer than the Puffy bamboo sheets. However, Puffy offers an impressive 101-night trial period, which is three times longer than Baloo’s trial period.

Baloo vs Brooklinen
The Baloo linen sheets and the Brooklinen cotton sheets feel very different. The Baloo linen sheets, as I’ve mentioned before, have a slightly coarse texture. The Brooklinen Classic Core sheets have a crisp cotton feel. Think of this crisp feeling as a fresh-pressed button up shirt. These sheets get their feel from the percale weave. The Brooklinen and Baloo sheets are fairly good options for hot sleepers, thanks to their breathability.
One of the reasons I love Brooklinen is the variety of limited edition color and design options. The standard options are white, black and some black and white stripe designs. But Brooklien rotates its color and design options year-round, so there’s alway something to match a color scheme. Baloo only offers its linen sheets in three neutral colors and white.

Are linen sheets better than cotton?
Truthfully, it depends. Both sheets have different feels and textures to them, so the choice boils down to personal preference. Linens are proven to be incredibly long lasting and great for hot sleepers, but not everyone loves that coarse texture to them.
Cotton sheets depending on the weave, feel either crisp or satin-like. They’re equally lightweight and good for hot sleepers, though they may not last as long as linens.

How long will the Baloo linen sheets last?
Baloo offers a lifetime guarantee on its sheets. Similar to a warranty, Baloo will replace or repair sheets that were damaged in the manufacturing process. The guarantee doesn’t cover general wear and tear, but linen sheets usually last several years with good care.
