Nolah Bamboo Comforter Materials
Let’s talk about the materials that make up the Nolah Bamboo comforter and how that influences its warmth and feel.
Cover
With bamboo in the name, it’s no surprise that this comforter uses bamboo all throughout its construction. It starts with a smooth, soft bamboo viscose cover. It only comes in white, but it does have corner loops to attach a duvet cover.
This bamboo has been OEKO-Tex® certified. This means that the bamboo was processed without the use of harmful chemicals or harsh metals.
Fill
Inside the bamboo viscose cover, you’ll find more bamboo. This fiber fill isn’t the fluffiest, and it makes the comforter fairly thin and lightweight. But this makes it a good option for hot sleepers who are looking for something thicker than a blanket to sleep with.
Bamboo also gives this comforter some breathability and has moisture-wicking properties, so you’re not going to feel hot and sweaty while using it.
Warmth
Even though this comforter is thinner than your standard comforter, it’s still thicker than a blanket or a top sheet. This will give you some additional warmth, though not as much as a fluffier comforter. If you like lightweight comforters, this is the one for you. But if you prefer a fluffy, thick comforter, I’d look for something else.

Allergies/Allergens?
Bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic and antimicrobial. This means that it won’t attract or trap allergens in your sleep environment, and won’t promote the growth of bacteria. The soft, silky feel should also be ideal for those with sensitive skin.
30-60 Min Nap with the Nolah Bamboo Comforter
I love testing bamboo products. The material is incredibly soft, smooth and cooling. I run hot most of the time, and since bamboo doesn’t trap heat, it works out really well for me. So, when it came time for a nap test with the Nolah comforter, I was anticipating a pleasant sleeping experience.
This is a thin, lightweight comforter. If you’re looking for fluff, I recommend looking elsewhere. But if you love that feeling of sleeping with something just a bit thicker than a top sheet or a light blanket, then this comforter is the right one for you.
Right off the bat, I felt my body heat dissipate and my temperature adjusted fairly quickly to the comforter. It also really helped that the comforter felt cool-to-the-touch when I started my test. And the bamboo viscose felt very soft, so overall this was a very enjoyable sleeping experience.
I could see myself sleeping with just the comforter (no top sheet) year round. I live in Austin, and temperatures get high and stay high most of the year. But even in the cooler months from about November through February, I think this comforter could do a great job keeping me cozy.

Caring for the Nolah Bamboo Comforter
Nolah recommends that you dry clean its bamboo comforter. However, if push comes to shove, machine-washing is an option as well. Here’s what the company recommends:
- Wash in a cold water cycle
- Do not use the spin cycle
- Do not use bleach or fabric softener
- Tumble dry on medium heat or let air dry
How does the Nolah Bamboo Compare to other Comforters?
If you’ve never used a bamboo comforter before, you might not be sure if you like bamboo. I’ve taken the time to compare this comforter to two more traditional comforters from Layla and Brooklinen.
Nolah vs Layla
The first thing most of us think of about comforters is how fluffy they are. One of the more common comforter materials is fluffy down alternative. The Layla All-Season comforter is one such comforter that uses the fluffy material. It’s intended for year-round use, but it is going to create that cozy, warm sleep environment as well.
This comforter is a good deal thicker than the Nolah bamboo comforter. The Nolah comforter isn’t fluffy at all, so if you want that in a comforter, go with the Layla. On the other hand, if you want something more lightweight, go with the Nolah comforter.
Though Layla’s comforter can work year round, I found myself getting a little too hot while using it. If you’re a hot sleeper, or worried about overheating, I’d recommend the Nolah comforter.

Nolah vs Brooklinen
Down feathers are another popular material for comforters, and the bedding industry giant Brooklinen has one of the best down comforters. Right off the bat you can pick a warmth option that works for you. Warmth options just means that one version of the comforter will be thinner than another. Brooklinen offers three: lightweight, all-season and ultra warm.
Nolah does not offer warmth options, but its comforter falls in the lightweight category. So, if you prefer something fluffier, get the all-season or ultra warm Brooklinen comforter. Down is also more of a natural insulator. This means it’ll keep you warm in the cold months, but shouldn’t trap too much heat in the warm months.
Bamboo works better for people who are hot sleepers, or live in a climate that’s warm most of the year. Bamboo is breathable and moisture-wicking so hot sleepers won’t feel hot, stuffy or sweaty while using this comforter.

Shipping Information
You will receive free shipping on the Nolah Bamboo comforter. When it comes to returns there are two options. One, you will be responsible for the return shipping and get a full refund. The second is you can initiate a return with Nolah and have the company provide you with a shipping label, but Nolah will take the price of shipping out of your refund.
Trial Period
You’ll have a 30-day window to make returns or exchanges on any Nolah accessory, including the bamboo comforter. This acts as a trial period to let you test out the comforter to see if it fits your needs.
