For as long as I can remember, I’ve always ended up kicking off sheets at some point during the night. Overheating was such a problem for me until I discovered the Puffy Signature sheet set. They’re made with bamboo viscose, and I haven’t turned back to polyester or even cotton since I started using them.
These sheets are incredibly soft while being super lightweight, breathable, and moisture-wicking. I’ve never felt hot, stuffy, or sweaty while sleeping with these sheets. So if you know someone who has an overheating problem while they sleep, I cannot recommend this sheet set enough. I even convinced my parents to get a set!

One of my favorite brands for pillows is Lagoon. This brand makes eight different pillows that meet a lot of different needs. But one of the more universal pillows they have is the Lagoon Otter. I love this pillow because it has a shredded foam fill that you can take out or add to. This is what we in the industry call an “adjustable pillow.”
What makes it great for those with neck pain is that you can finally find that Goldilocks height for your pillow. Side sleepers, like myself, will want to add enough fill so that the pillow is tall and supportive. Back sleepers will want a medium height that supports their head without putting their neck at an uncomfortable angle. Stomach sleepers can make it nice and flat. Tell whoever you’re giving this to to play around with it, especially if they have a crick in the neck.
Also Check Out
- The Purple Harmony pillow is a great choice for those who want some height/loft options but prefer a light, bouncy feel in their pillows.
- If you want a simpler adjustable pillow, the Marlow pillow has zippers along the side that change its firmness.
For the Ultimate Comforter Burrito: Saatva Comforter

When I say that this comforter probably saved my life, I’m only slightly exaggerating. In February 2024, Austin got hit with a nasty ice storm that left me without electricity for about a week. With freezing temperatures outside, the Saatva comforter was my saving grace for both me and my cat.
This comforter comes in lightweight, all-year, or heavyweight options, but no matter what you pick it’s just a really great, high-quality comforter. I have the all-year option, but it’s so fluffy and it kept me super warm while my apartment’s thermostat was reading 55 degrees. Plus, I’ve seen my cat use it as her personal cat bed, and when it’s cat-approved, you know it’s good.

- This comforter only comes in white, so be sure to check out the colorful options from Nest’s bamboo duvet cover.
- If you love actual down and feathers, be sure to check out the Brooklinen down comforter.
For the Friend Who Hates Alarms: Phillips Sunrise Clock
Phillips Sunrise Alarm Clock
Take advantage of your Prime membership and order the Phillips Alarm Clock! This product has 20 different light intensities and is super easy to use.
Why Tony Loves It
Look, I’m already a light sleeper. It doesn’t take much for me to notice the things that go bump in the night (like maybe a certain sleigh on the roof?). So I’ve never really liked traditional alarm clocks with their blaring, obnoxious sounds, or even the slightly more calm synth from my iPhone. Enter sunrise alarm clocks.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the Hatch sunrise clock, which is a good choice. But for full functionality, you have to opt into a Hatch membership. So, I settled for the Phillips Sunrise clock and it does the job. The light feels way more natural and trust me, you will notice it when it’s lit up.

- As I mentioned, check out the Hatch Restore clock if you want a more minimalist design.
- On the flip side, if you know someone who wakes up for nothing, check out the Sonic Bomb alarm clock. That will certainly get them up!
For the High-End Friend: Cozy Earth Bamboo Duvet Cover

Why Marten Loves It
Growing up, I believe I had one comforter for a good ten years. Now, as a (mostly) grown-up product reviewer, I have been exposed to more luxurious bedding. And, when I think of the most luxurious products I have tried, the Cozy Earth Bamboo Duvet Cover shoots right to the top of the list.
The bamboo material is extremely soft, and I love the feeling of sleeping under it. I even threw away my top sheet to fully experience that silky feel. While it isn’t the most breathable option out there, the Cozy Earth is a perfect match for those colder nights. If you’re looking to buy something nice and luxurious for a friend or loved one, this would be a great pick.

- If you want something a bit more breathable, consider a percale duvet cover like the Brooklinen Classic Duvet Cover.

For the Friend Who Uses a CPAP Machine: Lundberg CPAP Pillow
Lundberg CPAP Pillow
The Lundberg CPAP pillow makes side sleeping with your CPAP machine comfortable.
Why Marten Loves It
I’ve struggled with sleep apnea for a number of years and, thankfully, I now have a CPAP to deal with my condition. One big drawback of a CPAP? It makes it so difficult to sleep on my side. I constantly feel like my CPAP mask is pressing into my pillow, and I just can’t get comfy in this position.
That’s why I’m such a big fan of the Lundberg CPAP Pillow. It is designed specifically for people who use a CPAP and features grooves that make room for even the bulkiest of CPAP masks. It personally made it so much easier to sleep with my CPAP, and I would recommend it as a gift for anyone with sleep apnea.

- The Helix Wedge Pillow could also help with snoring and sleep apnea, even if you don’t use a CPAP.
- If you also deal with neck pain, take a look at the TEMPUR-Neck Pillow.
For the Constantly Cold Friend: Casper Snoozewear Blanket Robe

Why Marten Loves It
Back in the day, I used to laugh at the Snuggie commercials. I never thought I would wear something like that around the house. However, now that I’m older and pretty much always cold, I’ll do pretty much anything to stay warm. Because of this, the Casper Snoozewear Blanket Robe has become my new best friend.
The Snoozewear Blanket Robe is exactly what it sounds like – a blanket that you can wear around the house. It looks similar to a kimono but has the baffle box construction of a comforter. When I first wake up or when I’m winding down in front of the TV, the robe makes things so comfy and cozy. If you know someone who is always shivering, the Snoozewear would be perfect for them.

Why Marten Loves It
If you’re looking to splurge on a friend or loved one, a new mattress might be in order. But, how can you find them the right mattress without knowing exactly what they need? With that in mind, I recommend the Nolah Original Hybrid mattress.
This bed is close to medium-firm, so it should be a good fit for pretty much any sleeping position. Also, being a hybrid, the mattress is extremely breathable, so it shouldn’t make sleepers overheat. If someone you know needs a new mattress, they’d be thrilled to unwrap this big mattress box.

Tips for Finding the Right Gift
For a Spouse/Partner
Pay attention to what your partner may casually bring up in conversation. “Honey, we could really use a new —” is exactly what you’re looking for. While you might brush it off most of the year, when it’s getting closer to the holidays, remember what your partner is saying as it can make the perfect gift.
Another tactic that allows more flexibility on the gift giver’s part is to keep a list year-round of things your partner may ask for. It could be anything — makeup, a massage, a new pair of shoes, a small kitchen appliance, a fancy razor. When it comes time to shop, you have a list of gift ideas, presumably with varying price ranges, so you can pick and choose which are best-suited presents. And you’ll know you’re getting them something they actually want or need, taking the guesswork out of the picture.
For a Parent
Similar to a partner, try and keep track throughout the year of what your parent might casually mention they need. If you don’t speak with your parent very often, keep in mind they will always see you as their baby regardless of your age, so anything thoughtful from your childhood or reminiscent of an old memory will be sure to bring a smile to their face.
Is there a game you used to play together? Gift them a new one and plan to play it with them. If your parent works, think about something practical they could use for their job. If they’re retired, what activities do they enjoy doing or an experience they might like that you can gift them?
For a Child
For younger children, there are new toys, games, and gadgets being released all the time. Maybe you’re sitting with them watching TV and a commercial comes on, and they yell “I want it!”. Pick up the phone, order it, and hide it away until the holidays. You can also peruse the toy sections at department and superstores closer to the holiday time, as they tend to have anything a child could wish for, from this year’s “must-haves” to smaller, affordable items that are sure to entertain for hours.
For teens, they’ll probably nag you about what they want, so it’s in your best interest to get them one or two of the many things they might be asking for. It takes some of the thinking out of it for you, too. On the other hand, if you ask them what they want and you get the dreaded “I don’t know,” think about what types of tech they have — what teen doesn’t like a new phone case or wireless headphones (since they’re sure to lose them at some point)? Also, consider gift cards since teens are at the age where they can pick out and purchase what they want themselves.
For a Friend or Co-Worker
How long have you been friends/co-workers? Are you close friends or more like acquaintances? Once you’ve determined these things, you can start considering what gifts to give.
For close friends and co-workers, you will know their interests and activities, so you can look around for something that aligns with their personality. For acquaintances, items like cute wine glasses or a gift card are acceptable. The simple fact that you thought of them matters and should be appreciated. After all, they probably won’t be spending more than $15 on you either.
