Sleeping With the Gravity Cooling Weighted Blanket
I’ve found that weighted blankets designed for cooling are really working to keep you at a comfortable temperature.
This is still a weighted blanket after all, and it did end up providing some warmth. However, because the cover’s been specifically designed for breathability and to be moisture-wicking, I didn’t find myself overheating.
I received the 15 lb option for this review, and as a heavier person, it was too light for me. But as a hot sleeper, this blanket did a good job of keeping me at a comfortable temperature while I rested.
How much does the Gravity Cooling Weighted Blanket Weigh?
Currently, Gravity sells the cooling blanket in three weights, with two size options.
The 15 and 20 lb options are intended for single use, while the 35 lb is a king-size blanket and can be used by multiple people.
If you’re not sure which weight option is going to be the best for you, the general rule of thumb is to take 10% of your body weight. Then, add or subtract a pound, and that will be the ideal weight. If you’re getting the king-sized blanket to share, you’ll take 10% of your combined weight.
To put this into practice, if you weigh around 190 lbs, 10% of that is 19 lbs. It would be best to opt for the 20 lb blanket to get the full effects.
Gravity Cooling Weighted Blanket Feeling
The biggest difference between the original Gravity blanket and the cooling blanket is the outer duvet cover.
For the cooling weighted blanket, the cover has been designed for temperature regulation, and it feels more like a very soft sleeping bag material.
Weighted blankets are known to stimulate something called deep pressure touch (DPT), which is that hugging sensation they’re known for. DPT is what’s going to help you release those feel good chemicals–dopamine and serotonin–to make you feel calmer while you use them.

Sleeping Hot or Cold
With “cooling” in the name, I’m happy to report that the Gravity Cooling Weighted Blanket sleeps relatively cool!
Now, this is still a blanket so it will provide some warmth. But the duvet cover has been designed with hot sleepers in mind, and when I slept with this blanket, I felt fairly comfortable in it.
Often, I find weighted blankets that are marketed as “cooling” really just mean that you won’t feel hot and sweaty while using them. They are blankets after all, but feeling comfortable is the top priority.
If you’re a hot sleeper who enjoys weighted blankets, but doesn’t want to feel hot and sweaty, this is a good option to consider.
Care Instructions
The Gravity Cooling Weighted Blanket comes with a removable duvet cover that is machine washable.
Just wash it in cold water with like colors and then tumble dry on low.
If you get the inner blanket dirty, Gravity recommends that you hand-wash only, and then let air dry.
Allergies/Allergens?
The glass beads in the inner blanket are listed as hypoallergenic. However, the duvet cover is made of synthetic material, and might not be the best choice for people with sensitive skin or allergies.
Because this blanket is machine-washable, we don’t anticipate it triggering allergies.

The Gravity Cooling Weighted Blanket comes to you in one piece, but it does have two components to it: an outer, removable duvet cover, and the inner, weighted blanket itself.
The duvet cover is made of a polyester microfiber fabric that has been designed specifically for hot sleepers, according to Gravity. This material will have breathability and moisture-wicking properties to it. It feels soft to the touch, but more similarly to a sleeping bag.
This duvet cover comes in three color options: navy, white, and gray.
On the inside, you’ll find the inner blanket made of high-quality cotton. It has Gravity’s precise gridded stitching to keep the fill in place and evenly distributed.
Speaking of the fill, in each of the stitched square panels, you’ll find fine-grade glass beads.

There are many different kinds of weighted blankets, each with different designs. Let’s compare the Gravity Cooling Blanket to two other popular blankets out there.
Gravity vs Casper
Casper makes high-quality memory foam and hybrid mattresses, but it has a weighted blanket as well!
Unlike the Gravity blanket, this is intended to be used as is and doesn’t have a way to fasten a duvet cover to it. It has a cotton cover, which is breathable and has room for airflow.
The Gravity blanket does have a duvet cover, also made of breathable material, but it’ll do a better job at keeping you at a comfortable temperature over the Casper.
In my experience, blankets with duvet covers, however, tend to shift inside, no matter what you attach it to. This is especially important if you’re looking for the weight to be distributed evenly all around you. The Casper weighted blanket has some of the best weight distribution we’ve seen.
But having an outer cover that can be washed gives the Gravity blanket a bit of an edge over the Casper, which is spot clean only.
Finally, the Casper blanket is more budget friendly than the Gravity blanket.

One truly unique weighted blanket on the market is the Bearaby Tree Napper weighted blanket. This is a completely knit weighted blanket!
It creates that calming effect weighted blankets are known for by using nothing but weighted, doubled up Tencel fabric.
Tencel is a great option for hot sleepers because it’ll wick moisture away from you, and with the loose knit design, the Bearaby has plenty of opportunity for airflow.
This could pose problems for people who prefer blankets to retain some heat. The Gravity blanket will keep you at a comfortable temperature, but air won’t be able to move as freely as it does in the Bearaby blanket.
